Other non-Sandboxx Options to Mail to Recruits While Traveling Out Of Country?

I downloaded the Sandboxx App and it kept my cell phone battery drained all day; indicator showed it would take 26 hours for full charge after dropping to 27%.

I uninstalled the app and my battery charged from 27%-100% in an hour, so my phone is back to normal.  Is there any other option out there to send a letter to GL while we are traveling out of the US?

You can try using Fedex it goes directly to their division and unlike Sandboxx it bypasses the mailroom. Sandboxx makes it seem as though its quicker but the delivery is only to the mailroom where your letter sits until mail time

I have no idea why the Sandboxx app would drain the battery on someone's phone. I had it the entire time our son was in boot camp, and never once had an issue (including while we were out of the country). In fact, I don't think I've deleted the app yet, even though I haven't used it since graduation. 

I encourage everyone to communicate w/ your sailor's the best way that works for you and your family, but I will say, I found the Sandboxx app to be amazing and worth every penny. And yes, my son received every letter, LITERALLY the next day - and I knew this based on his phone calls home (the dated letters always corresponded to when he said he received them) 

Using FedEx gets it to him no quicker, it still has to go through the process, so they're basically the same. The only thing slower is traditional mail, which takes a LONG time.. 

p.s. - you can also use Sandboxx on your laptop, if you're traveling with one.

My Norton on the cell phone picked up a video app of some kind (can't remember the name) that was red flagged after I went to uninstall Sandboxx.  I'm guessing that errant video app might have been a tag-a-long to Sandboxx and may have been the culprit.  

I'll google Sandboxx and see if it can work for us on the laptop.

All mail sent to the RTC goes to the main mail room on the main side of base. The mail for RTC then goes to the mail room at RTC, and is now sorted by ship. Once it is sorted by ship, it is delivered to each ship and is now in the hands of the RMPO for sorting to divisions. All mail received is delivered to your recruits ship the same day it is received. There is no way to send anything directly to RTC.

Sandboxx sends one "package" to base for each division. That "package" from Sandboxx still goes through the main post office on base. The package, as a whole is delivered to the ship for opening and sorting to the recruits.

Be aware, if your recruit changes divisions, or the division changes ships, and mail sent by means other that USPS it will be returned. This includes Sandboxx mailings.

I can't answer your question on a fast way for mail to be sent from overseas. I don't know how long you will be traveling, but think outside the box. Perhaps before you leave you can write letters about where you will be on what date, and what you think you will be seeing. Date them and have a friend put them in the mail for the dates you will be somewhere. You can include pictures that you have downloaded from locations where you will be.

Our circumstances didn't allow for us to pre-arrange emails. We did send two letters usps.  And, as the flight was about to take off (doors were shutting and we had to shut down our devices, I received word from Sandboxx that our first letter sent 'successfully'.  From this point on, we will use the laptop.  Sandboxx seemed to do fine on the laptop  :)
