AlisaMom - Wow, that deppers station is messing up the entire story....   They are confusing the Peanut Butter shot with Saltpeter which they mix in the food.  BOTH ARE JOKES....

When seasoned sailors and even veterans get together their is always jokes about what happens at boot camp. The stories always get bigger and larger everytime.  These stories end up being told to new deppers too.   Is it right to tell these stories to new sailors?  Probably not, but let's face it, thoughout the sailors career the jokes never end.  I can tell you a thousand of them.  Between the Peanut Butter shot, the salt peter, and the square needle to the family jewels, the story just keeps going.  I heard all of these when I joined in 1978.  But luckily, I was raised around a military family and knew all the jokes

Per the "peanut butter".  They call it peanut butter because along with the needle the syrum is about as slow and thick going in as peanut butter.  The peanut butter refers to the Immune-system-boosting gamma injection globlulin.  The peanut butter shot has only one notable side effects: An extremely sore arse.

Per the "Saltpeter" - Go here and read it...  http://www.snopes.com/military/saltpeter.asp
