So happy for everyone who got calls, and praying that others do soon.
My son is the APO Athletic Petty Officer. I am not sure I completely understand it, other than it has to do with PT. He only talked about it a little about it on the phone. I had so many questions, and some of the Navy talk I didn't get all of it...
Does anyone have any new info? My parents are planning to attend graduation with us, and want to make sure of the date before buying plane tickets. I know my son is doing well, and passing everything fine thus far. He was talking about others in his division that keep getting into trouble, and he said they were told it could push back graduation if they keep messing up. Has anyone heard if they have straightened up, or should we just hold off on the plane tickets?
Wendy, I got my tickets last night, a teensie bit extra for flight protection, so we can change dates if need be. But I think we should be ok. They should be coming together soon, and the SR's causing the troubles should be out by now, or maybe have turned around and quit misbehaving. With the kids losing phone priveleges last week due to their bad behavior, maybe, hopefully they are motivated enough to give in and get on with it. The RDC's give these kids alot of responsibility and have extremely high expectations out of them so that they can get every bit of potential out of them. They most likely tell them they are doing crappy so they (kids) will try harder. The RDC's push and push for a reason, and it works.
BTW: Your son is probably helping my son, who was a little short on time for his run on the very first test.
Thanks Bonniern! I hope those with the issues have straightened up, or are gone. I am sure though there will always be something, or someone who makes a mistake and the RDC's jump on that. Both my husband and I mentioned that to our son in the last letter, along with "hang in there"
I am sure my son is helping with the PT, he was so very proud, it was one of the first things in his letter, and when he called. Cool maybe they will be able to focus on that a little, and not sweat the other stuff so much. I really they pull together and earn a phone call, this extra long weekend would be nice! I think hearing from my son will make me feel a little better about telling my parents to buy their tickets. Maybe I just do the flight protection too. We do have a place to stay already set up, so we are good for that part.
I am feeling pretty confident that we will PIR on time. We have a good group of kids. My ex and I compared letters today and the boys sound upbeat and positive. Sounds like the "troublemakers" are just young kiddos fresh out of high school who were really unprepared and just not ready. They earned extra writing time priveleges (25 min on Tues and Thurs), so that has to be a good sign, and I think I read that they may have earned a flag. My kids were fortunate to have a great recruiter and a positive DEP experience. But here comes week 4, hell week, and we will see what happens. Lets pray that all the divisions shine. Then maybe we will get calls. I am hoping for Tuesday, mostly because I am off Monday and then I am going to be extremely busy Tuesday, so that must be when they will call. I have a training coming up and I hope they don't call while I'm on my flight.
yea i received an extra letter on saturday and was beyond thrilled my boyfriend finally is getting his letters but he said the instructor is coming down hard on them now but they are working hard together as a division :) i'm hoping for a call today personally since i'm off from work. tomorrow would be tough since i'm working and i don't want to have to miss another of his calls!!
Thats why its gonna be tomorrow (murphy's law). They won't call today when we are off and its convenient, they will call tomorrow when we are busiest. Thats just the way it works. Im being pessimistic, I know. Don't get me wrong, I will take a call at ANY time.
that is true... im just trying to figure out how im going to answer my cell if he does... i cant miss his call again. any idea around what time? like same time last time mid afternoon perhaps?
All I can say is to super glue the end of a string to your phone and tie the other end around your waist ( just leave enough room so you can hold it to your ear)!
I normally leave my phone at my desk when I'm working, but since my boys have been gone, I keep it in my pocket, or next to the shower door, or on my pillow.. If it has to go on vibrate, like in the movies, then i hold it. I am going to need professional help before this is all over......LOL
well you should see me at work im constantly looking at it or picking it up. luckily my branch manager as been amazing and has given me an extra day off to make the trip back since we've driving from the the east coast and so i can hopefully get an extra day with my bf in on sunday til he has to go back that evening. and yesterday i was in the movies for the first time since he left with a gf of mine and had it on vibrate and everyime it would go off id check it. i had it in my lap... she was laughing but understood!!
did you receive a call yet this week? i received another great letter yesterday but no call yet!
