I received a call from my son last night. His graduation / PIR is 1/7/11 and he found out that he is going to be a grad and go. Has anyone else received this same info from their don or saughter? He is SHIP 12 DIV 034. Will they have liberty once they get to "A" School for us to visit them there also? Does anyone know?

A lot depends on where is A school is. Sometimes they call them "grad and go" and they just move across the street and they can spend the entire weekend with you. Sometimes they actually leave and fly elsewhere. If that is the case, they are not allowed visitors until they phase up - could be a few weeks.
Where is his A school?
His "A" school is in Pensacola. It is so disappointing to us!! I was looking so forward to seeing him sor a couple days!!!
regina my son's A school was in Pcola and he was G&G. They will leave EARLY Sat morning...about 2-5am. Find out from him what airport he is flying out of. (there is a G&G group, if you want the link I'll post it for you, they have a questionaire that you can mail your son that he will HAND you at PIR so you know where to go) but PLEASE plan on meeting him at the airport. You can give him his laptop and cell phone and some civvies (their regualr underwear!!!) and often the flights are delayed or don't leve for several hours and many families have a WONDERFUL time with their Sailor and the other Sailors.

I did not meet my son at the aiport and deeply regret it.

Join the A school in Pcola group as well
Thanks so much for the info. So they can take their laptops straight from the airport with them???? Also, I would like the link to the grad and go. I looked for it and I could not find it. I am also interested in the questionnaire..... is it on that same website!!! Do you think they will get liberty in Pensacola on the weekend they arrive.... or do you think it will be a few weeks??

Thanks for all the info you have already provided!!!

Yes they can take stuff from the airport with them. It needs to be in a plain black back pack (they are available at the NEX)

The questionaire for the G&G recruits is in the discussion forum on the G&G group.

They won't get liberty for a few weeks at least I don't think so. Ask on the Pcola A school group, someone there should know
Thanks so much!!
Thanks so much for the reply. So, as far as once he got to SC, when did he get liberty? Was is the first couple days or did he wait til the next week??? Thanks so much!!!!
