Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Do they only call on weekends? Just wondering when to hang out by the phone!! Still waiting to hear something. My son's been gone since June 3rd.

I still have not gotten a call. My daughter's PIR date is July 30, but she has not yet completed her 3rd week. We think she is maybe being pushed. My husband says that he got to BC and was processed late that day / evening while other guys had been there for days waiting for their division (called a company then) to form. He began his training immediately. He says they might be pushing our daughter along in order to make an A-school date. We are hoping this doesn't mean grad-and-go. All of this is, of course, speculation. (And we all know there is plenty of time for that!)

Where's her A school? That can be a clue as to grad and go. LOL, they aren't pushing her specifically to make A school, the holds lately have been quite long at the training commands for the most part.
Nukes, aviation rates, MAs, anyone not training at Great Lakes, have a bit more of a chance to be a grad and go. Not written in stone, now and then some of them fly out the next work day or two after the weekend. Usually the Navy gets them on a plane ASAP so they can make room for the incoming recruits. However, a grad and go whose school is in Great Lakes just has to move to the other side of base, check in, then often has most of the weekend free.
Flexibility is your friend!

You can go to the Visitor's Center and standby, if there is room, they might let you in.

Oh is that how it works? I have 2 extra people going (waiting at the hotel). I will have them wait at the Visitor's Center and see if they get lucky. Thanks for the secret info Anti M and good luck hitomi926. I hope you get to go too.

Hello to all of you. I have been away for a few days. But thank goodness was home today. We received our first telephone call this afternoon. And yes, it was great! My daughter sounds like she is going to make it. She says that they have lost 18 so far, but have had others come in to fill in for a total of 82 in her div. She said they are a mish mash group.
She said that BC is truly a paradox. It is not as hard as she thought it would be in some ways, but in others is more difficult than she could have imagined. She said it seems as though they have been at BC forever, but then it also seems as if time has gone by so very quickly.
She said she has blisters on her feet, but they give them bandaids. She is wearing cheap, black socks that are permanately dying her toes and toenails black. She had a definate cough, and said that there are about 20 others in their div. that are also sick, but adds that this was to be expected. "It's just part of boot camp." She has passed her swim test which she was worried about.
She sounded strong. Says she "has this". She has been named EPO (Education Petty Officer). She has made it through 3 weeks now, so we are looking for things to get better and know we will soon be getting mail. They start small arms training tomorrow which she is looking forward to and says that it will be "FUN". She says she loves the marching. It reminds her of "band days".

It sounds like you are being a very good gf. I'm sure his mom notices this and appreciates it very much. We may have an extra ticket for graduation for you. We are still waiting to hear from our family members. Of course we have many grandparents and aunts who would love to come, but we are thinking that it might be best if just my husband and I go. My daughter has stated that she really doesn't want to go in to Chicago or site see. There will be other times for that. She mostly wants to go to our hotel and relax, visit, etc. after graduation. I just hate to have grandparents and the like go to all that expense and trouble just for this. We are thinking that they might rather visit her one weekend during A-school.

I read on one site that they try to get everyone in once they seat the ones on the list. One Mom said that they usually can get all the extra people in.

Hi, your list of things are about what I am going to take for Michael. He will not be able to take them back to base, but if he is a grad and go we will meet him at the airport and give them to him. I am also going to take him some boxers because I know he hates white tides.

I plan to give them to him at the airport before he leaves. I think this is the only time he can accept anything. Guess they will leave out Sunday evening??

Not sure, I think some will leave Staurday. My new boss son was a grad and go they got to spend till Friday night with him and the Navy put him on a bus at 2:00am next morning. But he will know ahead of time
