Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

my husband left for boot camp last week and his previous employer is holding his last paycheck from me.  is there any way i can set up a power of attorney while he is still in boot camp?

its so frustrating that our recruiter didn't say anything about this. i'm newly married and pretty new to the whole navy thing so i never even thought something like this would be necessary.. but thanks for your help!
As soon as you can I would make one up on LegalZoom.com and they mail it to you then you can take it to him on graduation to sign it and perhaps the legal office on base will notarize it for you while you are there with him on graduation. The healthcare POA doesn't need a notary but the regular POA does. I did manage to do both of those for my son prior to leaving. Try writing him and asking him if they get time to visit the legal office while in BC and perhaps they can do one there for him as well without going to LegalZoom. I do know they get briefings on this while in the Navy but it may not come up until A school. Any help you need understanding your family's medical benefits after he's officially active duty let me know I worked for TRICARE for 6 years.

Yeah wow they were giving you a hard time. I tried to follow most of it but I was getting so upset by how you were being treated I stopped. I actually need to know if you have any paperwork from DEERS that says he has you listed as a dependent at all no matter what the name is? If you don't you should be able to go yourself to a reserve base or a regular base and go to the DEERS office there (sometimes called the ID office, it has many names) here is the link to the DEERS (RAPIDS-that is the name of the system they use to enter folks into the system) http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl/owa/home and you can search for locations in OH. The place you go doesn't have to be Navy specific. Bring everything that you can that identifies you and your association to him. I know that my son had some papers in his backpack that came in the 'box' that may help you. If they can't get you in because they really do need him they can at least let you know what you can do, or they can probably get through to GL to help you. The Navy is very concerned about the welfare of dependents and they will do all they can to make sure that you are taken care of. The recruiter is not the place to go tho, I have to agree with them on that one. Now you need help from the Navy directly to solve this problem. Try these guys too: http://www.cnic.navy.mil/CNIC_HQ_Site/WhatWeDo/FleetandFamilyReadin.... Once you are set in DEERS you need to decide what kind of Tricare you want to have. Also, United Concordia takes care of the family member dental so you need to enroll with them as well, you will not have any dental coverage until you enroll. Dentists on base are usually reserved for AD only. These are the folks that do your Tricare but they are hands tied until DEERS is fixed and they can't do any of that for you unfortunately * Health Net Federal Services, Inc.

I have friends that work for them still so let me know how it goes with trying to resolve some of the stuff at a DEERS office yourself and we'll keep trying. You are not alone in this, as I saw so many situations where spouses went off on deployment or new wives would come in and they weren't on DEERS. We managed to get them help so you just have to keep trying and rattling the cages. Don't give up. Also, try and find your Navy ombudsman, the link to fleet and family services links to them too, they can go to bat for you as well.

He will have to request to go to legal from RDC to get power of attorney. I had similar situation with my daughter so I am now waiting on that to happen. I had no idea would have a problem later.
