My son graduates basic on Nov 12th and then to training school A or C not really sure what all that means and what it is. Wondering if he will be able to come home for the holidays? Any help would be great.

Welcome...join your PIR group, it will be your lifeline for info and support http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir11122010

I'm sorry but he will not get to come home for the holidays. He will get leave between A school and his next duty station or C school whichever he's doing.

A School is "Apprentice" school where they learn what they need to know about their rate (job)...C school is sort of for specialtys I think....It depends on their rate if they go to C school. What will your son be doing as his job?

Also, go to your profile page and scroll down to read comments left for you on your comment wall. I've left you a greeting message with links and other info that may be helpful
i got a question ... my boyfriend leaves for A school on November 10th its for 2 weeks.... then he comes home for 2 weeks... he is to report to his duty station on the 28th of december ... will he be able to stay home longer than those 2 weeks since he's report date is not till the 28th?
No. What counts is the end date of his leave days on his orders. He must check in off leave when the orders say to do so. Otherwise, he'd have an extra two weeks off and THAT is not going to happen. His A school will not start the day he checks in, there can be holds and indoc class.

Where is his A school?
Pensacola (SP) florida ... i was hoping for an extra couple of weeks :( if they just gonna keep him in hold .. id volunteer to hold him for the navy LOL
LOL, I am sure you would. His schedule sounds wrong to me (I'm ex-Navy), so be very flexible with what actually happens. Two weeks is a lot of leave for a new sailor, he hasn't earned that much yet. They earn 2.5 each month, so he only has about five now. They only get to take that much over the holiday break when attending a school, and then they have to borrow their own days forward. So expect updated information once he checks into his school and finds out the final picture.
Yea he will be working with a recruiter while he is here to off set days since he did not have enough time built up ... but he's on hold in FL now so his starting school is not what i expected ... so i've learned my "be very flexible" lesson now LOL i'll just have to keep waiting to see him again .. oh how i miss being first priority :(
That would be nice but as we all know, it's not all about what the family wants or needs. Navy comes first but be thankful that you get any time with him at all, most of us will not get any. Love and cherish every single moment with him.
Definately learned that lesson over the PIR weekend.. his mother wanted to leave early ... i did NOT... he says its ok i'll be home in two weeks... schedule has changed it will be more like 3-4 weeks but that's not set in stone either ... so i'm learning to not expect anything so i won't be disappointed.
Have you found the girlfriends/fiances.wives group yet? They are very supportive.

Working with the recruiter is RAP duty, that is done between school and his first command. That will earn five days for him.

Once he gets to the fleet, it is difficult to know when he will be granted leave.
Yea i've found the girlfriend group thanks. I didn't know what working with the recuiter was called but whatever brings him home for a few days is great for me! Thanks for all your info. I'm learning to be patient. :(
Well, my son got to come home for the holidays. He was in the middle of A school when everything shut down for 2 weeks over Xmas/New year. He had to pay his own way home of course, but he got home Dec. 23rd and went back Jan. 3rd. They do keep a skeleton crew on base so the answer to your question is...maybe.
Thank you for your responses and I can't wait until is over on Friday.
