My daughter left on 9/12 from Sacramento, CA and arrived in GL around 7:30. Recieved the midnight call and was told I would get another call in two to three weeks and to look out for the box that will have the PIR info. Good luck to all of you...I know how proud you are and how much your heart breaks for them. Stay strong!!

Thanks for the reply to my post.  How old is  your daughter?  My daughter is 18, graduated from HS in June of this year.

My son arrived from New York on Tuesday, got the call around 4 am...the last call for now... before the last call I got many texts and calls.  They were delayed at the airport and they were all having a blast hanging around.

Thanks for the reply to my post.  Sounds like he was enjoying himself and ready for the new life to come.  How old was your son?  My daughter is 18, graduated from HS in June of this year.

He did say from his call at the airport that he knew he did the right thing by joining the Navy.  He sounded excited to start his new life. My son will be 21 on 9/22. a milestone birthday.  Can't stop wondering how he is doing.

My son's best friend left on 9/11. He has been living with us for over a year (but been part of my family since my son was in second grade) so it's like sending off my son, I even saw him off at MEPS on Tuesday.  My son went to bc on 7/3 and graduated 8/31. He is in Pensacola now and loving it. I know you have read this on other posts but it does get better. The first letter you receive will tell you how much they want to come home etc, but even as soon as the next letter things will sound better. By about the 3rd or 4th letter you start to see the pride they are developing and at graduation you will see proud self assured sailors ready to head out to their next stage of service. Graduation is awesome and you will be bursting with pride when they come marching into the hall. It is a sight you will always remember. Good Luck.

Awww thanks for information makes me feel a little better. I just know my son must be hating it since he wasn't a neat freak LOL!

Angelica, they will teach him to be a neat freak as well as someone who is always on time lol. My son is in Pensacola right now and the first week someone didn't shut a locker all the way or something like that and when they came back from breakfast someone had thrown all their stuff all over the room and their mattresses up against the wall. Now before they leave their rooms they make sure everything is in its place.

I know that's what makes me happy because he sure wasn't at home hahahaha! I'm very proud of him. WOW are you serious that's crazy... The good thing is he had a really nice recruiter that was real upfront with him about what will happen at Boot Camp.

My daughter's recruiter was very up front and funny.  She too was not a neat freak but anal about some things, especially food so this is going to be quite interesting.  I have a feeling that when I see her at PIR (graduation) she's going to want to eat at all the best places we can find (afford).

Thanks for the info re: the letters.  I can't wait to see the changes in my daughter.

My son also left from Houston on 9/11.  I got my call a little after 1:00.  I thought it sound like a script.  Really miss him.  His older brother leaves October 1st.  Still have one at home.
