Hello Ladies,

So the dreaded day has come and the husband has officially gone to boot camp on the 4th. It has been a VERY stressful couple of days and hearing my 11 month old call for her daddy every second doesn't make things any easier. But I'm starting to get in a little routine and I'm almost at the point where I am more proud of what he is doing then sad. I wanted to see if there's anyone else who's loved ones also left on the 4th and if anyone knows when he's possible PIR date might be. I know its still VERY early to know much information but I feel like having a physical date of when I'll see him again will make the time go by a little smoother.

You may want to check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvKAhmgkoj4 and http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433. They will give you an idea of what is happening.

I see you have joined Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors; you may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know his PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Mom's and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.

His PIR date will most likely be 11/30/2012, but it could be the week after if he is held longer in P-days for some reason.  Once you know his PIR date, count Fridays rather than days until you see him and it may help some.

Thanks so much!! I really hope he doesn't get held back an extra week. Counting Fridays does sound like a much better idea, what I have been doing is marking off each day that goes by in the calender and I've also been counting down to closer events that are occurring during the time that he's gone to make things seem like there going a little faster, for example my family is on vacation and will be back on the 12th so I've been counting the days till they come back once their here I'll count down till my daughter's birthday which is on Nov 3 and then after that they'll only be about 3 weeks left till my husband comes home (that helps a little).

I have another question, so if he's PIR is on a Friday do we get to spend the weekend with him or does he have to stay where he is? He's A school is right there in Great Lakes so he doesn't really have to fly anywhere.

Since he is staying in GL, he will call you after he checks in at the TSC on the day of PIR, which takes about 3-5 hours, and will have Liberty until Liberty expires that night at 10, but you must drop him off about 30 minutes before to give him time to get to his barracks. He will be able to take his cell phone back with him that night.  Then he will have daytime Liberty (pick up 6:30 or 7 am and drop off 9:30 pm or so) each day of the weekend.  There is no overnight Liberty PIR weekend.  Have him bring his black backpack on Saturday and maybe Sunday so he can take things back with him.

Here are 2 other groups you will want to check out: Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page.

What will his rating (job) be? There are also groups for many of the ratings.
