For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I received 2 letters today! Sigh of relief! My son wanted his debit card...spent a lot on uniforms and so forth, I guess. At least that can go in an envelope. Now he's wanting to change who he invited to PIR...told him he should focus on the goal at hand.

hmmm cant imagine what he is buying. Its all issued and taken out of his pay. He may want it for pictures. Its hard if you have a big family and can only invite 4. Others can go but will be put on standby until everyone else has gone in. It was just my husband and I.

aha just asked my son. He said they are taken to the NEX a few times while they are there. He said they are given a $50 card at first, then when thats gone they have to buy stuff on their own.

I'm sure he's fine. He is a miser with his money, except when it's something he really wants. I did mention to him I would be interested in a picture, so hopefully he will take care of that. We don't have a large family, but my son may be realizing that the girl he was "good friends" with means more to him now that she's not available to be at his beck and call. :-)

We got 2 letters today!!! It is great hearing from him. I don't know how many of mine he's received so far. I've put about 10+ in the mail for him.
He did mention the staring at a wall for hours as a punishment to the division.
He seems to be doing okay though.

Our son is requesting more paper, pens & stamps. Question: What are we allowed to send? STUFFED envolopes? or a box 8X8 with supplies? Thanks, I must go to work. My husband will check for response later.

I dont think he can have packages. They may hold them until after PIR. I know the other divisions can send them, but not this division. You can send a envelope 8x10 with paper and stamps. If he is asking for pens then he must be ok with getting them.
True story, someone sent cookies and the instructors ate them in front of them. They will open pkgs, that is why I am reluctant to tell you its ok. The envelope is a better idea, less attention on him.

Unfortunately at BC they can only use what the Navy gives them. Take all that with you to PIR, he can have them when he moves over to PreBuds the same day.

Shortly after PIR they will pack and move to their new building as a class. You will have a short time to visit and then will have to come back and pick him up when he calls. This is a good time to purchase pictues, since it is crazy right after graduation. PIR starts early so I would get there Thursday night unless you are early risers. The meet and greet is Thursday night too.He will most likely have to be back every night and you will be able to pick him up early 7ish. That is part of Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Wow, that would be neat to be that close. We're at least 23 hours drive...hope the weather is decent in February.
