She was so nervous when she left. I pray everything is going good for all of our recruits. Has anyone received a letter yet? I was hoping yesterday or today, but most likely next week toward the end.

I understand completely. I got a second job to keep busy. I write her every day, but sometimes it gets to me. Then I just remember what she is doing. And I pray. It helps so much. I figure if I can't be with her God can. That helps so much. We should have a letter by the end of this week. My oldest said she thinks they wrote on the third Sunday. She also said those days were a blur to her. I do want to say, don't be alarmed at the first couple of letters home from basic. These weeks are tough with the adjustments etc. I reread some letters from my SR's sister, and those first couple were almost heartbreaking. After the first few weeks tho, you will see a difference. More confidence, more assurance on their part to you, instead of the other way around.

This is a great forum to belong to. And I am here for ya!

You are so welcome. Someone was good to me when I went through this the first time. It is great to be able to pass that on.

My son is in Div 316, and I still haven't received any letters from him yet.  I have gotten the graduation letter, but nothing personal.  It's killing me!  I can't wait to hear from him.

Me too. I think the mailman is scared of me. I am at the point I may run him down. :) I keep checking here to see if anyone has received anything personal yet. I have never been this long without hearing from my boy.

My husband is in 316! Although I know rationally I will not be receiving a letter until Thursday at the earliest, I can't seem to keep myself from checking the mail! Every morning my two year old and I go post a letter to "Daddy" and I just can't wait to get one back!

We stayed at the Navy Lodge. It was great. The folks at the front dest were FANTASTIC! The room was clean and well taken care of. Last year, there was a policeman who stopped by every day, and he was very helpful when I had questions. Everyone was very nice. I believe you have to book it in your SR's name unless you have ex/current military ID. They had/have maps available to the airports. They also deal with PIR on a regular basis.

We made arrangements to stay at the Ramada Inn Waukegan.  I've heard mixed reviews about it, but one thing seemed to be agreed upon, that the beds were really comfortable.  They have an indoor pool which my younger son will appreciate, and they offer a meet and greet for the PIR and a shuttle to and from the base.

This will be our second option, I will seriously start looking after the first of September. I already reserved the car rental. We are driving out again, and we usually rent on long drives. My husband refuses to fly.

I'm still waiting on my first letter too! We are going into week 3 and I haven't heard from him besides the kid in box and form letter. But that's ok, because no news is good news. I figure when he gets to week 3-day 1, then I might actually get something. We will see. Stay tough girls and press on.
