That's awesome!  Hearing our kids tell us how much they appreciate us and all we've done for them, is truly a most wonderful & amazing Christmas gift from God!

I also received a letter from my son yesterday, in fact, the most BEAUTIFUL letter I could ever have imagined receiving!  It was so full of love and the realization of how important his family is to him, how much he misses and loves me, and how appreciative he is for all I've ever done for him.  It was AMAZING!!!  And...he was promoted a few days earlier to "Section Leader".  I am so proud of him, I feel like my heart could burst!  He said boot camp is "easy", the hard part is being away from everyone".  One thing I can share (not such a good thing), is that they were granted 60 minutes of phone time a few days ago, but because 2 SR's got demerit chits the day before, they got a "compartment hit" cutting their 60 minutes down to 10.  I'm afraid those 2 SR's were most likely VERY unpopular.  = (

In any event, I feel on top of the world this morning after receiving this letter.  I still haven't talked to him since that first phone call when he arrived at Great Lakes, but look forward to hearing his voice one of these days.  Only you other Moms can imagine how much!!!

Merry Christmas, and may God's richest blessings be upon each of you, your SR's and your families!

Karen

I think they were all told to write home and tell mom how much you appreciate them.  I was very happy to read those beautiful words.  I am looking forward to seeing another soon.

Thanks everyone for sharing your beautiful letters. I mailed a package yesterday with 100 pre-printed motivational messages (all the same letter) printed on holiday paper. I asked my SR in a letter to hand one out to everyone in the division to give everyone some cheer, in case there are people that haven't received any mail.  I don't know if he will get in trouble for me mailing him such a big package, I hope they look in it and see that I had good intentions and allow it to be passed out.

What a thoughtful and beautiful idea!  Thank you!!!  I'm praying that your son is allowed to distribute them.  I think they could all use a positive message and some holiday cheer right now.

My heart is aching to think of my son without his family today and tomorrow, but knowing all your sons & daughters are there in the same "boat" with him, does help to know he is not alone.  Also praying he might attend a Christmas service honoring our Lord.  I truly believe that might bring him (and others) great peace and comfort.

When I spoke with my son tonight, he said he didn't get the 100 pre-printed motivational messages. He said he won't get mail until Tuesday and will pass them out then.

Patrick's Mom and everyone: :My son is a christian but he said he is going to midnight mass tonight.  I am so happy he has a service to go to for Christmas.

I pray my son goes with him!

I'm glad I joined this group.   It's good to hear what other son's and daughters have written.  I only received on letter so far from my son.  I've never been one to care if I received letters from anyone but I wish he would write more as I am curious about how things are going.  I guess we'll just have to do a lot of catch up when we attend the graduation ceremony.  It will be interesting if my son befriends somone else's son who is in this group.  Maybe we'll get to meet each other : )

I am hoping the same.  My daughter will be staying at the base for A school also.  I am hoping to spend a few days with her before she goes.  I was able to get the plane ticket but waiting on the room.  I am traveling alone because my husband is starting a new job in January.  We know he can not get the time off.  I am using my only vacation time but it is so totally worth it.

I got a 30 minute phone call. I'm in Texas and her brother called from Michigan and we had a conference call. It was timed perfectly.

So happy for you!!!  Merry Christmas!

My son called and was curious if the moms  that I have been chatting with are moms to SR's that he knows.  If everyone post their SR's first and last name here then we could send them each others names.  Do you guys think it is safe to post here names or should we private message each other?
