Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 071 and 072

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hello everyone,

My daughter is in DIV 72, she arrived in Great Lakes on 3 Dec.  I received her box and the form letter.  I have already started writing her letters to encourage her through the training.  She is my oldest so it's been very hard to watch her go and become the young lady I know she is meant to be.  I have been looking at flights and trying to determine which airport to fly in, I have already made lodging reservations.

Hello everyone,
I've been out doing some last minute shopping. I missed my daughters call this afternoon but my son got a chance to talk with her as well as my husband. I am excited she called and said she is doing well. She passed the swim qualification test. She sounded well according to the reports I received from my husband and son. I am just excited she called to let us know everything is okay. I am feeling very excited and will sleep a little bit better tonight. She is on Ship 03 Div 072
I made reservations at the Navy Inn & Suites on the post where graduation will be held.

How many days are you staying? How can we find out if our kids will have any time after graduation to spend with us? If I make reservations and get flights scheduled, etc but he has to ship out right away, I will be stuck there without my son.

Just got a call from my SR.  In his Div 072, there are about 77 recruits -- a small group.  He said the group is accelerated because he joined a group form the week before.    He is tired.  Monday will be Week 1 Day 4.

thanks for sharing !  Hopefully they will get more sleep soon :)

He also said that he liked his RDC, but he thought the RDC for the brother DIV is nuts!  Woodchuck, not his real name, passed his swim test, but also realized how out of shape he is.  I bet it won't take long for him to get in shape.  He said there was lots of marching and yelling.  PT was similar to football camp, but with lots of yelling.  It made me laugh.

Oh great...haha..My son is in the "other" Div. 071.  He didn't tell me that, just that he had two males and one female RDC and that a few of them get together before lights out to work out a little extra because the food is so good!  That was nice to know :)

Oh, I think that is just a perception thing.  I am sure DIV 071 thinks that their RDC is better than the 072 RDC.

Lol. Well he could also be right. I had a pretty crazy drill sergeant in basic training myself. Some of them just love the dramatic effect :)

Not so sure about that, Woodchuck mom.  My daughter is in that Div (one of only two women thought) and said that their RDC is more outspoken and tougher than the others.  She hasn't had any trouble though, just follows orders and keeps quiet.

I am an optimist!  I would hate to make you worry.
