Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

liz, divers will stay at Great Lakes for 32 days for diver prep.  If they pass that than they go to Panama City, FL for about 4 months of training to become a diver.

Grad and go is if they have to fly somewhere else for A school.  Ours will move across to another building.  Mine is going for diver also.

All of the guys will move either to a new base or to new quarters after PIR, the times and dates will vary for each and they usually will not know until a few days prior to PIR.  Some may move right after PIR to new quarters at GL or at a specific time in the following days.  Some of the guys may  have watch during the weekend and will have to be back at base to do so if they have liberty.

There are several groups here that are great for divers, SAR, SEAL etc so join those groups to meet others on the same journey.

Waiting..Waiting..Waiting..just wishing for a call or a letter! I think Sunday's are the hardest for me because no matter what..in our family Sundays have always been "Family Day". Maybe I will hear from him this week. I hear that that the 800 divisions have it a little harder at BC than other divisions..which I can understand due to them being Special OPS but, it also makes me feel like we probably will not be hearing from them as often as others get to hear from their SR's

For some bc is really easy and for some tit is hard, it is different for everyone, if they were an athlete prior to going in they may find it easy. Odds are you may get 3 phone calls total, the I'm here, one half way and the I'm a sailor although they are not guaranteed.  The 800 divisions tend to get fewer calls but it can vary.

Just watched "Surviving The Cut" on Discovery channel tonight...it was the Air Force Diver training held at the Naval Dive Training facility in Panama City.  I can only imagine our SRs will be going through similar training, and maybe as early as  predive at GL.  WOW!  It will be tough, mentally and physically.  If they can just keep their heads & practice as much as they can on those early BC mornings in the pool...it is an intense program and it helped me understand what the SRs will be facing in the post BC training.

My son is in this ship and division. No letters or calls yet but we are continuing to write him everyday!! Hes been gone almost 3 weeks now, and I still feel like I am missing my left hand. Everytime I run the hourly  "wheres my kids inventory" I still cycle to my SR!! I can't wait to see him at graduation! I am hoping once he is in Pensacola we will be able to speak and Skype with him more!!

Welcome kresqeball!  I am in the same boat, so to speak!  I find myself thinking about my SR constantly and I send him a letter every morning before I leave for work.  I know his time to write back will be limited and knowing our SRs are getting up before the rest of the SRs in BC, to do pool and lift training, I can only imagine how tired they are in the evenings.  I just keep thinkign I don't want him standing at mail call with no mail for the day so a letter goes out daily and just hoping for a reply someday soon!  My SR is headed to Panama City, Fl. following predive training in GL.  I am nto sure how much time they will have while in predive, but so looking forward to seeing him at PIR.  It will break up the quiet times between their training!  Once they get to A School, they will need to "phase up" and will earn more privilages so I am also hoping for more contact and skype!  Hang in there Mom!  We are with you!

Karla-My son is in Div 287 and I believe they are the sister/brother divisions.  I talked to my son on Monday as he needed information for his clearance.  He said that they had just recieved mail privileges and would be able to send mail this coming Sunday so no mail for 287 parents until next week!  I will keep my fingers crossed though that 288 got to send mail this last Sunday!

Yaaay!! My heart is racing I'm soooo happy =) I got a letter today too!! I feel so much better. I hope others are getting them too this week!
