Welcome to the discussion group for division 822.

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

good question... I have no idea....I was going to bring binoculars to find my boy. Knew they had flags/guidons, so I was going to look for that #. I will ask A in my letter tomorrow. I also want to know where he stands so I can hone in faster. :)

not sure yet. haven't heard about that yet. my SR said to be there EARLY! he said its going to be a busy graduation!

I saw a post (think it was on the BootCampMom's page) regarding PIR.  It showed signs with the Division number on them and stated that you should sit in the bleachers in front of your number.  The signs will be removed prior to PIR, but are there to help make sure families are in the right place to find their sailor.  From what I understand, each division has a flag, but the flags are not displayed/revealed until PIR, so your recruit can't or won't be able to tell you what to look for.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it - the Navy has been doing this for awhile now, I am sure they have getting families to their sailors down to a quick science.  =)

A friend of mine is former Navy and he said his Mom bought the VHS (at the time) of his graduation and he is really glad that he has it, even though he has never watched it.  Said he can't wait to show it to his own boys one day.  So if the opportunity exists to purchase a DVD of graduation, if you are able too, you should - just hold on to it for your child because who knows where they will end up!

Hi everyone, my son arrived 8-13. My "2 minute phone call" upon arrival was 24 seconds... he said "i'm here, i'm safe, i can write you in 2 weeks, i can call you in 3 weeks, and you will get a box with my stuff in 3 days, love you, bye". he's now in his 3rd week, and i'm just wondering if anyone knows what day they usually get to call, IF they get to...? have received one letter, last wednesday, and am hoping to get another tomorrow, late due to labor day. of course in the last letter he didn't answer any of the questions i have asked him in the daily letters i write to him. also curious if anyone has heard how the RDC is/are? any info anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated!!!

Well if they have the hardest RDC's on the base.. It is because they are going to be the toughest SR's on the base..LOL..Just a little 800div humor..

hooyah to that !

Guess who I just got a call from?  Yep!  My recruit was able to call home today and we got to chat for almost a half hour.  I hope all of your boys get to call as well.

He sounded really good and upbeat.  He said they are working hard (though they have a few stragglers who need to step up since they are SpecOps) and spending a lot of time in the pool.  He said the food was good and there was plenty of it and that they usually had about 20 minutes to eat - though since he is the second tallest in his division, he usually sits down last and so doesn't get quite as much time except sometimes at breakfast when they switch from tallest to shortest instead.

He mentioned again how much mail means to them and he said he really appreciated the pictures I sent him - so if you are not writing (which I know you all are) please do so and encourage your extended family and friends to do so as well, since he said he had gotten letters from some classmates and family friends and it meant a lot to him that they would take the time to write.

Joanie - if your son is Daniel and you get a letter from him that says "Jack says Hi!", well then, that's my boy.  =)  Apparently Navy4Moms is a known entity to the recruits and they are trying to figure out whose Mom knows whom.  And whomever it is that said their son was trying to switch from SWCC to AIRR - he hangs out with my son as well and is doing great.  His request to switch is being reviewed tomorrow, so fingers crossed that he gets to make the change.

It was really great to hear from him.  He did mention that they only have time on Sunday's to write, so don't expect letters more often than that.  They did write last Sunday, so we should get mail tomorrow or Saturday.

Yayy for you lucky ladies who got calls today. I mean that sincerely!!! I wish I was one of the lucky ones. My phone is glued to my side, just in case since we never know when one may come in. Thanks for sharing your  news too. It keeps us all in the loop. My son better not be one of the ones who needs to step it up. I would be mortified!!! I told him how he is going to have to bust his butt to get thru all this and bc is the easiest part. SWCC is another story. Biting my  nails now. :(

Maybe the next letter, hoping that is tomorrow, will reveal some "friends" or battle buddy names. More to come on that. If my son found a Patriots fan, then he found Karen's son. ;)

Keep the stories/updates coming. They are helping me cope with "Ant" being gone and me being an empty nester.

Y'all have a great evening.

OMG Hi!!!! great news! i rushed thru the market after work hoping to find a letter...Nothing. I said to my husband, maybe we will get the call????....im so happy for you girls!!

Hi Melissa! my phone is on charge!!!!!

yay! the phone call came today around 6pm, we got to talk for approx 25 minutes... whew!!! relief, got to hear my baby's sweet voice, ahhhh.... he sounded awesome, hearing his voice saying "hi momma!" was like HEAVEN!!! so far everything going good, hasn't been in trouble but once for calling a female officer young lady, had to stay in a push up hold for 15 minutes... says the days are long, and they can only talk inside the barracks, i know that's killing him because he is a talker!!! luckily didn't have too much trouble with the peanut butter shot, has had a few blisters. says it's beautiful there, that it's an awesome experience and he would do it again. they got to put on their blues, and whites, yesterday to make sure they fit well, did some sewing. he's made section leader, but says he tries to keep a low profile as not to get into trouble, and that if he has any bit of extra down time he spends it preparing for the next day. poor boy, he's organizationally challenged... i'm sure rdc is correcting that! hahahaha! of course i had to fight back the tears, and the call ended way too soon, but my heart isn't as heavy, and i can sleep well tonight, thank You Jesus for the lovely blessing.

Hey Melissa my son was trying to switch from SWCC to air rescue.. But he told us tonight he wasn't going to... I am so glad we all got phone calls it was so good to here his voice..How tall is your son, mine is 6'1" maybe he is who yours is talking about....

My son is Chris.. Can we say that??

He said the same as everyone else the food is good..very tired.. only getting a few hrs of sleep.. he has gaurd watch from 2-4am... said he has literally fell asleep marching...

It was great to here his voice I am so glad that the 800 DIV gaot to call and talk for soo long...
