Wine? Anyone say wine? I have plenty! With spouse in wine biz, I have plenty. Straw? Whatever we need. I have drank a fine Bourdeaux in a paper cup!

STRAIGHT FROM THE BOX OR BOTTLE OR KEG HOSE... DONT CARE...  ITS WINE... ITS GOOD... oooooo Chefongreenst.... Wine Biz... YOU ARE MY NEW BEST FRIEND!!!!!

Well our SR's didnt get the Cherrio flag!!!!  UGH.... gonna kick Andrews ass now.... hahahhah

chefongreenst just made a WHOLE lot of new friends!!!  Bring on the wine!!!  Now, WHERE THE HELL is my mailman!!!  Are you kidding me.  He is here everyday promptly at 1:30....I am waiting for a letter for crying out loud.  If I find his butt at Dunkin Donuts he's a dead man.  OK, done venting...where's my wine glass?

any mail Kim??

No letter for me.

Finally got my letter yesterday.  Got a little "bitched" out by my SR cause I mailed him our local towny paper and he had to do push up!  Ooops.  Oh well, builds character!  LOL  He sounded great, he said we are not sticking around base AT ALL after graduation, we are heading to Chicago and he wants a big greasy Chicago Pizza!!  Any suggestions would be great since we have no idea where we are going.  By the time I got the letter he has put out fires, been gassed and studying for his final tests.  He is really confident he will pass everything.  He said he will call on Tuesday night after Battle Stations.  I can't wait!!!  PS..the mailman should recover nicely....that'll teach him to keep me waiting!  (kidding!!)

Lmao...yea I got "bitched" out too for sending too many pics " I said WELCOME TO THE NAVY LOL. My son said pretty much the same about getting off base he feels that 116 days will be enough lol. Couldn't sleep last night getting excited

I recommend you look up the locations for Gino's East, Lou Malnati's and  Giordano's.  There is a Gino's East pretty close to Michigan Ave.  When we were down there after Christmas there was quite a line outside for Gino's East.  We really liked this place called Pisano's that is west of The Hancock Center. It is a small place, but it is good.

My favorite thin crust pizza is Rosati's.  There is one near Waukegan/Gurnee if you are not heading to Chicago.

Someone mentioned Garrett's popcorn.  There is always a line outside but it is really good.

This is really from San Francisco, but I love Ghirdelli sundaes.  My favorite is the chocolate chip cookie bottom sundae.  Not always on the menu but you can ask for it. It is near Water Tower Place.  If you like to shop that is the place to go on Michigan Ave.  They have the cutest American Girl Place store if you are bringing young girls.  You can take a horse drawn carriage from here.

Hershey's chocolate shop is across the street

Lastly, Navy Pier is great for restaurants and some shopping.  Not real stores in there, it is more souvenior type places.  Before Tyler left, we went to the Build a Bear and made a sailor bear.  They have a Jimmy Buffet's Margueritaville and a Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant.  Also, if they want steak there is a Harry Carey's Restaurant.

Well, that would be the most you could get done in 8 hours.  Not enough time for the museums, but I strongly recommend the Shedd Aquarium if you have Saturday, too.

Let me know if you have any questions, I just spent 4 nights downtown before Tyler left for Basic Training plus I grew up here.

One of the ladies I work with said Harry Carey's is an awesome restaurant.    Very good food.   She said Margaritaville is very good also.   Hmmm what to do.   I guess I will just have to see what my SR wants to do.

Right now he said he just wants a very large green tea and beef jerky waiting for him.   will pick that up when I get there.  LOl

Been there and it is good food. I just don't want to waste time driving back into the city. I just want to be in the same room with my SR. That's why I posted the Giordano's pizza. It is my SR's fav when we have tavelled to Chi-town and knowing that it is 6 miles from the base, makes it perfect in our eyes! In a previous letter from my SR, he just said he wanted pizza and go back and take a hot shower at the hotel. We are all staying at the Ramada and I can't wait to meet my new Navy family!

I'm thinking after we eat, we will chill till we leave to see him off at the airport! Hookah!!! Can't wait!

There is no reason for you to travel back to downtown Chicago for pizza. Ever since my SR was little, when we would travel to Chi-town, we always ate at Giordono's....Famous for the Stuffed Deepdish Chicago Pizza. This place was where we were going after PIR. However, I found a Giordon's 6 miles from the base in Gurnee. I have made reservations for 12:00 on that Friday.

We had thought about driving back into Chicago, but we are not. Have lunch, then back to hotel for visit. We are running to the ATT store to get his phone up and going.

Ladies, take a look at their website....giordanos.com. Put in the RTC zip and you will see it is 6 miles away from base. Don't trust Chicago traffic on a Friday!

We could have one big 09/075 pizza party!

If you have not found our "covert ops" website and would like to join us there, just ask.   It's a more private place to talk and discuss things.
