My husband is Ship 10 Div 168. I received 8 letters today!! Was so so so happy to hear from my husband. Bad news came with however. He was in the Nuke program and found out shortly after being there that is he apparently "color deficient" and won't be allowed to be in the program anymore even though he was fine at MEPS. He scored a 97 on the ASVAB so the recruiter says he will still get a good job. That is not the point though we were supposed to be able to live together in Charleston right after basic training. I have been sobbing all day. I hate to hear he is sick, his feet are in pain and he had to go through that rejection alone. This is way more difficult than I ever thought it would be!
Hope you ladies received mail aswell
I know how you feel! We were all geared up for Charleston as well, and then right before he left, they told him his age waiver didn't come through. They may offer your husband a submariner position. It's still a pretty elite job and requires a high ASVAB score. If that's the case, the A school is 1.5 years, so you'll definitely be able to move there with him. Good luck with everything!
Well....no letter today either...My son has never been much of a writer so, either he just doesn't want to or I am thinking he wrote one of his friends.."Beth or Sarah" if you know what I mean. I am going with no news is good news and hopefully get one soon or will wait for the phone call.....so I can scold him for not writing his mother first!!!!
I'm jonesing for another letter! Moe, have you heard from other in "our" ship/div? I have dial-up at home (yes, it's 2010 and in this chunk of rural coastal Maine we have NO way to get high-speed!), but anyway...it's beautiful outside and this is taking WAY too long, so off I go. Back to this on Monday when I'm at work! Adios fellow navymoms. (even changed my picture!)
moe so happy you got 2 letters!! josh wrote his big sister it made her so happy and me too!!!
lj1422 sorry you haven't gotten a letter yet...i think you should threaten your son w/ a few push-ups if he doesn't write soon!! ;)
cheyanna, i'm sorry to hear about your husbands condition and situation...will be praying for you and your family...
clark36 it's a great feeling just to know that they are doing ok or at least sound like it...glad you got a letter...

hope everyone has a very nice weekend and that we all get more letters and phone calls soon!!!!
Hi all. My son Chris said in his letter that the group of guys he bunks with have been nicknamed the Irish Corner. Someone from Texas and someone from Mass. (He only used last names so I dont want to say) Will try to get first names. I was so happy to get mail
HA HA My son is from Texas he is half white/spanish his first name is Melchor or they call him JR..... But I will ask him about the Irish corner? LOL he is a quiet boy but a game freak.
Anybody get a phone call yet?????
no! not yet can hardly wait!! hope you get one soon!! maybe it'll start a trend if one of us gets one!! :0)
So have plan tickets and hotel reservations made!!! Can't believe that it is only about 4 weeks away!!! Can hardly wait to see how much Josh has changed and stayed the same!! Hope everyone gets a letter and a phone call soon!!! Crossing my fingers and saying a pray for everyone!!
I GOT IT.....THE PHONE CALL....JUST 10 MINUTES AGO. We talked for 20 minutes and he sounded great!!!! Yes he got his wisdom teeth out and has had some other dental work. Told me the food was good but not as good as mine (good boy)
he has made friends and they only know each other by last names there so he doesn't know who I am talking about when I asked him if he knew any of your guys. He said he has done really good on all his inspections and tests. He missed his first fitness test though by 3 sit ups....but is doing 10 more now than he needs. He also told me battlestations is on the 21st of April. He told me they love the letters and he also told me he wrote me this last Sunday...so I will get a letter this week too. I did really good and did not cry until we hung up........I am so releaved to hear from him.....he said they are counting down the days 31......also today is 2-5 and tomorrow starts 3-1 and his changes every We. Hope you all have gotten your calls too.....Thanks to all of you for hanging in there with me!!!!!
I got my call too!! about a half hour ago!! It was wonderful to hear his voice and he really did sound good..lj1422 he said so many of the same things that your son said.. only knows his friends by last names and said some of them will be going on to A school w/ him and he seemed glad about that...said the food was ok mostly cafe style and he thought maybe he had gained weight..I laughed at that and said maybe he was getting some more musels...he said that it's not to bad and he's stayed out of trouble but there are several in his unit that were sent back and are "loud mouths" so they get IT because of them...he sounded so good and I was really good too and didn't cry till i was off the phone...he said to write more and he sent another letter Sun. so should get it soon...He sounded a little different but still the same..Oh how I miss him but feel so much better now that I've talked to him.... Thanks for being there ladies, I feel very lucky to have this site and meet (viea emails) all of you!!!
