Hi mom2nick!!
I am so excited to be meeting people that are with my hubby!! Let's hope everything goes well with our boys and pray that time flies so that we can see them at their PIR!!!

My sister works for the Marriott, so I got a pretty good discount for a hotel room. I rented my car from ACE rent a car for $94 from Thursday- Sunday, which I didn't think was so bad. The only thing I haven't been able to book yet, is my flight, since I have to find out if my mom is going to go and help me with my son!!

Hope we can all keep communicating through here!!

Did anyone receive a letter? Or the papers from DEERs?

BTW, only 44 days left til PIR!!! Woohoo!!
Welcome to the group, mom2nick!! I'm so glad others are joining.

Arianna, I also rented a car from ACE. I hadn't heard of them before, but their rates are really good compared to the others. I rented mine from Thurs - Monday and it costs $111 compared to $250 with Enterprise.

No letter and no DEERS paperwork, yet. I have been running back and forth to the mailbox, but just bills. :(
I haven't received anything but the papers for graduation. My younger son was going to come with me but the airline tickets are to expensive so it will just be me. I haven't even started looking for a hotel but your car deal sounds good. Will keep everyone posted if I get anything
Hi ladies... My son is also on ship 10 div 336... I didn't get a box. He left out of houston on the 16th of Aug. I'm waiting on "The Letter" I think I am hoding up pretty well. Although last night my husband said that Thomas is probably going to want to go hang out with his new friends after PIR and not with us and it hurt my feelings... I was very sad thinking that...
I wouldn't really worry about your son not wanting to hang out with family. He is probably going to be tired of seeing the same people day after day. My son is also in the same ship and divisin as your son. Justin is 20 and will celebrate (?) his 21st birthday before graduation. We haven't received any letters yet other than the Navy letter with a couple of lines at the bottom from him. Hope to meet other families while we're there.
Jessica...your son left with my husband from Houston. I saw your son at the airport because I remember someone calling his name in the group. Were you also at the swearing in ceremony at MEPS? I agree with Karen that your son will probably be too tired to hang out with his friends and would probably prefer to be with you. His friends will most likely be too busy hanging out with their own families, too. :)
YEA!!!! Soulstar... you got to see him!!! even that is exciting... hahahaa He didnt tell me about the swearing in part...He just handled it all on his own. Its a long story about us but maybe one day I will share it. He is a great kid who has had a lot of hurts. This is good for him. What is your husbands name? If you want to message me without posting it here that is good. I gotta run now. ttyl
Hello everyone! This has got to be the best site for me anyways! I'm reading thru all your posts & I just have so much pride & tears & fear that seem to be shared :) My son is in Ship 10 DIV 336 & I haven't heard from him yet but his dad received his box of belongings & has talked to him. I unfortunately missed his call :( I am planning on going to PIR & would love to exchange ideas on hotels, site seeing & such.
My son is alson in Sip 10 DIV 33. I haven't received a letter from him. Just the 20 second phone call and he Navy letter with brochures about PIR. My husband and I are driving from Arizona and my daughter and her family are coming from Michigan. We have booked rooms at the Super 8. Good rates and includes breakfast and a mini fridge in the room. I have heard that some want to go site seeing and some just want to hang out with family. Hope to meet other family members while we're there.
Hi Denise from FB...I'm so glad you made it over here! This site is awesome isn't it?! There is so much information. Did his dad receive the 20 second phone call or a real phone call? I hope they start letting them make real phone calls eventually. I'm dying to hear SOMETHING from my husband. I was doing well last week, but this week it's starting to get a little agonizing.
His dad got the 20 second call. I got a voicemail (the call I missed) he did say that the next time he can call is the 30th so heads up....keep your phones handy! (I know they probably haven't left anyone's side) What is this other group? Where they have info on the meet & greet things? Someone mentioned it....I think Karen?
So are any of you guys from California I know my son left with 5 other guys. My other son is starting to act up at school, I know it's because he misses his brother, he is like a dad to him. No worries to those that are worried about not spending time my nephew just graduated a month ago and all he wanted was good food including tacos and good sleep.
