I just got a call!!!!!!!  He's great!  YEA!!!

Dustin's Mom....We are in Grand Prairie, Texas and we just received a call a few minutes ago too!  I am so glad my husband and I both were home so we could put him on speaker and both be able to talk to him.  Although a little frustrated with all that goes on, he was for the most part ok.  I asked about Dustin.  My SR didn't know him but said he would ask around. I am glad Dustin is doing well and you heard from him so you could have some peace of mind!  What a great start for our week!

Dust said that they know each other by last names.  But he said that there's pretty crazy stuff going on.  Said that someone didn't aim well in the bathroom and that got them 1-1/2 hours of IT.  He also said that they have trouble being quiet, but it is getting better.  My son is older than most new recruits and he said that some of the younger guys are slow learning that it has to be done the Navy way or they get punished.  But he did say they are coming together as a group and he loves it.  He said it is hard...probably the hardest thing he's ever done, but he sees the reason for everything they make them do.  He really likes the Chief and said the Petty Officers are good, too.  Tough on them, but good people.  I am so relieved to have talked to him.  My imagination was not doing good things to me....Glad you got a call, too.  Did your son tell you how hard they are pushing to make the 2-10 PIR?  They have battlestations scheduled just a couple of days before PIR and that is unusual.   Pretty intense.  Anyway - they are still alive and well!

Yes....I agree!  My SR did say they were pushing hard to make PIR.  He also said he had been punished for talking......he said he was not but he also said it doesn't matter there.....if they say you are, then you are!  We told him do as he is told, keep his mouth shut and ask few to no questions to get through this. I hope he listened.  He's a good kid and this is all he has ever wanted to do; I want him to get the most out of it and hopefully look back with good memories.

Are they still calling? I didn't get a call on my cell phone yet, neither did his mom. Hoping he isn't calling the house phone, because neither of us are there. :/

Did you ever get a call?  Dustin said the group is doing well.  I'm sure your SR is fine.  Maybe he will call tomorrow!

Nope. :( He didn't call his mom's cell or mine or the house phone. :( I am hoping that maybe some got to call today and the others will get to call tomorrow? I don't know though. I am just hoping he didn't do something to loose his call. :/ I highly doubt that though. Last letter I got said the RDC's don't even know his name...he is definitely trying to stay under the radar.

You got a letter, I got a call.  Both are wonderful!  Mine was only 10 minutes but so nice.  He said he studies instead of writing letters.  So I don't have to stalk the mailman anymore.

That is awesome! I am very happy for you! :) I would love to hear his voice for 10 minutes, but I am definitely thankful for letters! I got 4 of them last Thursday, but I am out of town until this Saturday. Thankfully his amazing mom scanned them at work and then emailed them too me. :) She also told me I got another one Saturday, but I have to wait until she goes back to work after the holidays tomorrow so she can scan it. So, I am definitely excited to get to read that tomorrow and am hoping for more later this week. :)

Ladies - are we going to coordinate a scarf color to identify ourselves at PIR?  Any color is fine with me, though red and purple have been chosen.  What do you think???

Sounds great!

Any color would be fine with me.  Yellow has long been assocuited with our soldiers and with hope.  Blue is a great color too.........true blue, as well as oftened used to distinguish quality.

I like blue - like royal blue?  How about you other ladies?  Any ideas?
