did I do that right?  We haven't started twoard travel yet for the big day.  My son is quite a bit older than many of the other recruits.  He is 32. I imagine he is having a very different experience than if he had joined 10 years ago.  He did march in a drum and bugle corps, so some things are easier for him, I am sure.  Lookinf forward to a real letter.

Maybe even bring something new for her that day...and whip it out right when the ceremony starts, maybe that will help...OR bring a big sugar cookie!  That might keep her attention (and wont be really messy like a melted chocolate chip cookie).  KiWi2011, everything will be just fine!

Funny.  I bought some Girl Scout cookies for my SR..bringing them with us (if they last that long).

I bought a case of thin mints for my son! I am sending them to him at A school once he settles in. I figure they will help him make a friend or two!
Kiwi - This was one of my favorite quiet games - I took a thin rubber made container and glued felt to the top. I then cut out lots of shapes from colored felt and stored them in the box. Instant felt board - my kids loved it and would play with it for hours. A pencil box would work well for this.

I got a letter!!

He said the first chance he got to write, besides the short note last week, was the 27th.

He said he's only gotten my letters dated up to Feb. 15th so there is a delay in the mail. bummer!

They started PT and whats called B.A.S.E.S on Saturdays- which is a 12 station workout (I think)

They got unlucky & ended up w/ the toughest RDCs! (or maybe that is his opinion?)  They've been getting in trouble a lot and the RDCs like to make them do IT (Intense Training) in their living quarters when they dont get things perfect.  There are 42 bunks, but I'm not sure if they are all full.

He said that they should be getting a phone call home soon!  Just a little update for you all!

Very good TB.  My husband suggests that I make a copy of the letter that I received last week...says that i am going to wear it out!!!  Thank you for the update...I am sure all of our letters say a little something different..helps paint the big picture of what is happening!
Hi, my son is also in this div. I'm so jealous, haven't heard much from him. Just a short note not telling much.  I am glad to read your posts, from those who do get info, it really helps give me an idea of what mine is doing, too.  So thank you much.
My SR sent a letter to his Gma and Gpa.  Said there are 84 guys in his division (must be the 42 bunks!), ranging in age from 17-32.  Said they got 5hrs of time on Sun to do "stuff".  Said most of the guys have tatoos (he does too).  Was happy to be with guys that want to be Sailors, like he does.  Nice letter...glad Gma & Gpa got a letter!!
ok.  Got 2 letters today.  My SR confirms what TB1983 said, they were told that their RDC's were the toughest!  SR sounds really really good.  Says they are starting to work like a team.  Says they are doing a lot of folding.  Did their PFA (he passed...hopefully all did).  Waking up early...doing lots of PT, eating, studying.  Working hard.  I know we are all so proud of these boys!!!

aw man!  I know he he will do better next time!

My hubs said he got 10:20 on his run.  I'm assuming that is good? He also informed me he volunteered for the special forces...So he might be switching divisions.  He said he chose SWCC.  His contract is for Corpsman, so now everything is up in the air!  Hope they get to call home soon & explain all that to me!

haha!  My hubs has wanted to be a SEAL the whole time i've known him.  So, when he told me that he volunteer for SWCC and NOT SEAL, I was shocked.  I wonder what changed his mind?  We had talked about this before he left.  I told him just to follow his heart & make the best decision he can for our family.

SWCC is Special Warfare Combat Craft Crewman. Its basically the guys who run the boats & support the SEALS when they do a mission.

haha. I dont know if I can handle him being one either.  BUT- if he makes it, he deserves it & I'll stick by his side.  So we'll see if he can hang w/ the big boys! ;)
