Good morning ladies!  I recently ran across the following Navy joke and sent it to my SR.  I thought you might enjoy it as well....  Happy Saturday!!

The old Navy Chief finally retired and got that chicken ranch he always wanted. He took with him his life-long pet parrot.

First morning at 0430, the parrot squawked loudly and said, “Reveille, Reveille. Up all hands. Heave out and trice up. The smoking lamp is lighted, now Reveille.”

The old chief told the parrot, “We are no longer in the Navy. Go back to sleep.”

The next morning, the parrot did the same thing. Chief told the parrot, “If you keep this up, I'll put you out in the chicken pen.”

Again the parrot did it, and true to his word, the Chief put the parrot in the chicken pen.

About 0630 the next morning, the Chief was awakened by one heck of a ruckus in the chicken pen. He went out to see what was the matter. The parrot had about 40 white chickens at attention in formation, and on the ground laid 3 bruised and beaten brown chickens. The parrot was saying, “By God, when I say fall out in dress whites, I don't mean Khakis!”

hahaha that is cute :)

Hi everyone-

I've been so busy this week starting a new job that I haven't had time to get on the computer.  And for some reason when I try to post comments from my phone, they never take.  Anyway, I have had several short letters from my SR. She was SIQ (sick in quarters) one day and so had time to write. She had eye and ear infections and a fever.  I was so worried after that letter, but fortunately got another one the next day to say that she was better and on LLD (limited light duty) for a couple of days. Then another letter to say she was back to full duty. That letter was dated 29 Aug. She said they were going to have a crazy week, with their 2nd PFA and a weapons turn over inspection (said that is easy, just a lot of standing around) and Marlinspike! But also they they would be getting a 2nd holiday routine Thurs or Fri for Labor Day. She is excited that they are half way done and said it seems to have gone by fast but not fast enough. She seems in good spirits and writes these short notes after lights out, so is also always sleepy.

I'm sorry to know that some of you are not getting letters, or not getting many but I wanted to share some of the information I have received about what our SRs' Div is doing. Sorry I can't make anyone feel better about how their individual SR is getting along.

Hugs to all. I hope the weekend is pleasant for you. I'm in the Palm Springs area of So Cal and the weather is horribly hot and humid, so I may be vegging inside a lot.

whats 2nd holiday routine?

Every Sunday they are on "holdiay routine". I know on Sundays that includes church services if they so desire, but I gather it is "time off", time to relax and catch up with things, if they need it.  For my SR, because she is a girl after all, it includes time to take a real shower :)

So this week they got a 2nd one because of the Labor Day holday.  I thought they would get it on Monday (Labor Day) but my SR said they would get it Thurs or Friday - 9/1 or 9/2.

At least that is what I understand from her letter.  She gets things wrong oncce in a while. Like when she said they were now getting 25 mins each night where she was allowed to do nothing but read or write letters. Turns out it is actually only one night, just "thursdays or something."  Not the most accurate information, but after 19 years of mothering this one (28 years and counting all told), I am not surprised. lol

Thank You iwagot for sharing that. I thought they would be off on Monday also.  My info from him is very select and sometimes not so accurate either. I think they are packing a lot of information into those heads of theirs.
ok thanks for sharing its great to know what they are doing. my sr isnt good at givng me details.
Good morning ladies!  I just ordered our PIR ribbons from Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons.  Check out her pics of these beautiful ribbons on her N4M profile page or her Unique Memory Makers facebook page.  You can also email her at uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com for information on how to order your ribbons now!
