Welcome cschlatter, Horselover, and lawpupk9!  My son left for BC on August 3 - almost three weeks ago now.  Our house has definitely not been the same without him here.  I miss him a great deal but look forward to seeing him walk through those doors at PIR!!  To date, I have only received one "real" letter from my him. (He is not a big writer.  LOL...)  Hopefully this week we will get a letter and a phone call.  :)

I can't wait for PIR!  I'm trying to come up with the money for plane fare to get there, so wish me luck!

My Uncle lives close to Chicago, so Joe's fiancee and I will be able to stay with him when its time - at least I won't need to come up with cash for a hotel too.

I got one real letter from him with two pages in it this past week.  One was dated the first week (on Sunday) and the other page was dated the second week (also on Sunday.)  I'll start scouring the mailbox tomorrow and hoping for another letter this week...  I hope they're receiving the mail we sent.

I know that several family members and friends have sent him phone cards, so maybe he'll be able to call.  I thought he was supposed to be able to call this past Sunday, but we didn't get a call.  Did anyone else?

Hey Christa!  Your son and my son shipped the same day.  :)

My bf also left for bootcamp on 8/3 and no i havnt recieved a phone yet. :(

I wonder if all the SRs in their division shipped the same day?

I sure hope that they get a chance to call home soon with GOOD news!

Hi, Niki!  I have not yet received a call.  Fingers crossed for one this week.  :)

Hope you can make it to PIR!  We looked at airfare and decided to drive instead.  (We live in NC.)  I just made our hotel reservations.  We are planning to stay at the Ramada in Waukegan.  (Praying nothing happens to cause us to change the date.)

Oh Christa, I'm SO with you on the praying for nothing to change...

Being in Texas, driving up would take more money in gas than airfare with the price of gas these days.  I'm going to wait another 2 weeks before I think about booking a flight.  My husband knows folks at Southwest Airlines and he said he'd talk to them tomorrow at work about finding my soon-to-be-daughter-in-law and I cheap flights without 10 hours of layover and 2 plane changes.  Then again, if all the flights are over $300 each, it might be better for she and I to drive up...I'm not sure.

We're going on vacation in 10 days, so it'll be when we get back that I'll commit to something...

i wish i lived close enough to drive but i dont i am in south florida. So we have to get a flight.
Cool!  We're taking the 13 year old out of school over Labor Day week and going to Disney.
that should be nice. Thats a good way to get your mind of of things
Thank you!  I have received one letter myself.  My name is Cherie.  I keep writing to her. She is supposedly calling me today!! Yeah! She is a section leader!!
Hey how do you know she is calling today???
Her Dad got a letter today and she told him she got to call Wednesday (today).  She said she would call me and I could pass information on.  I probably have a letter too, just I'm at work still.  I have told my employer in case I get the call here at work.  I will let you know if I hear from her.  She sounded very positive in her letter and I am SO happy!!!  I hope you all get calls soon :)
