Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 339 and 340
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

I received my first letter today as well (5 pages)!! He sounded pretty good although he said they are in trouble a lot as a division because there are several guys that "can't figure out how to keep their mouths shut." Also - since 339 is their brother division -- they get in trouble when that division messes up as well. He didn't complain about the food, in fact he thought it was pretty good. He is glad they provide a lot of healthy options at meals, including fruits and veggies (I know -- sounds strange coming from a guy). ha ha He is really looking forward to A school in Pensacola and said he has met several others between Div 339 and Div 340 that will be heading that way as well. Hopefully we get calls this weekend!!!

5 pages!!!!! Wow :). I would be stunned to get that from my guy - he is not a writer, at least not a 'hand' writer. Give him a computer & then I would expect pages - oh well, thank goodness for the survey idea. My SR gave them only 4/10 for teamwork, so it sounds like a concern - and of curse if they get into trouble, phone calls are unlikely. I saw on this site that some divisions get no calls beyond 'I'm here' and 'I'm a sailor'! I guess that I already feel lucky that I got the one long call - and another very quick one before being handed off to a JAG officer because of some security clearance questions!!!
So, funny note abut the food. My SR likes the salad bar - because he can eat a bowl of bacon bits when there is nothing else he likes - HOW GROSS IS THAT?!?! We have been telling him that he will get scurvy! -

My son Daniel is in this Div and will be going to Pensacola for A School also. We are from Texas. I know it cant be my sons mouth because he is too quiet! He loves the food there and said a few weeks back he had a cold. He said it gets very cold at nights.Oh and my name is Karen.

Apparently my MIL is coming to PIR and is arriving around lunchtime, so I have been informed that I am taking the whole day off :). Boy, I will NEED to see you all by 6:00pm, if you know what I mean :)

So cool! My call was great - AND he said a letter was on the way in case he couldn't call today. I told him that your kid had sent 5 pages....he said, "You will get 1 and a half!!!". :)

Ha ha. That is hilarious Bridget. My SR indicated he has only received one letter from us so far (from his 12 year old brother) -- but did indicate they do not receive them on the weekends. I indicated I had sent him a couple of cards -- and he freaked out. "I hope they're not singing cards in colored envelopes." he stated. We had a bad connection -- but it sounded as if they played it one time and then it was taken away and they had to do push-ups to it (or something like that). Thought I'd throw that out to the rest of you as a warning -- DON'T send singing cards because it sounds like the results are NOT GOOD!
Tomorrow is 2-5 and Tuesday is 3-1. Week 3 -- YEAH! I believe things will start to pick up for them this week and hopefully they will all come together as a division. I believe they also start earning flags for their division -- so teamwork is key. I asked him where he was when they marched -- and he indicated it was always different. I'll check again as PIR nears -- because with our other son -- we could not locate him during PIR.
He still has the Ricky Crud -- but doesn't want to go to medical for fear they'll hold him back. He is looking forward to PIR on 9/6 and certainly doesn't want to be detained for ANY reason. He said they have already lost a few people from the division for various reasons. He passed his PT, swim test, and first exam. Overall -- sounded good but also glad they are almost 1/2 way through. :) I also found it funny that he wanted to know if I'd found out anything else on the "Navy Moms" site. ha ha I think sometimes we're more informed than they are.

Our connection was awful too - my husband was 'standing by' for his turn and chose to move things in the sink and so forth (we were in the kitchen) - I was freaking out because I could hardly hear my boy!!!
He did say that they took a division test and that it could earn them a flag (or pennant, or something), but that they had not received the results from that yet.
He also said that they got fitted for uniforms - and that there were a lot. There was some father/son Army vs. Navy banter that was quite amusing for me, but probably only because I know my two men far, far too well!!!
Re: the singing cards - you know, if I could SEE him doing push ups as the card played, it might almost be worth it, but since I would just be making my son suffer without the visual, I will take your advice!!! HA HA!!!! Actually, since they are pretty obvious and would definitely be an attention-getter, they were on my mental 'no no' list! Still good advice in case any one of us gave into temptation!

Hello Moms,
I just joined this site, and have been reading all of your posts for a few days. My SR secretly enlisted right after turning 18, and went to bc on 7/9 without saying good bye to friends and family. Based on that date, her PIR should be 9/6 unless she is held back. It's a long story, but she disowned her entire family and friends after quarreling with her parents over her 21 year old boyfriend. I have not received any calls, the box, the form letter or any mail. :( I am sure she sent all to her boyfriend. She should not have joined because of her medical history, and saying I am "worried sick" is an understatement! I am petrified and my heart is breaking! While her brothers, father, cousins, etc. are hurt and angry, I have been crying so much that I have actually gotten wrinkles. I just start crying no matter where I am. I have multiple nightmares every night and get little sleep, and my doctor had to prescribe additional blood pressure medication for me. I don't know what ship or division she is in, but may (but not sure) have narrowed it down to Ship 14 Div 335/336, Ship 12 Div 331/332, Ship 13 Div 333/334 or Ship 3 Div 337/338. I have been writing her, but don't know the address. I would be forever grateful if you could ask your SR if they know my daughter, and how she is handling bc. Not knowing what is happening to her is killing me. Her name is AlinaMari from Redlands, CA, pronounced AlinaMarie and she usually goes by Alina. Please don't share the personal details with your SR so they don't get back to my SR. She is, obviously already angry at her family.
Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart!!!. I will keep your SRs in my prayers along with my own.
