Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 407 and 408

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hello everyone.  My daughter called Saturday as well and I agree with you all, she sounded great and seems to be making lots of friends.  Told us that the weather has been hot out there.  Said they had their PT test and swimming test (which she passed both) but said they will be having more of them.  Seemed very tired and some what homesick but I fully expected that since she said they get up between 4 am and 6 am and lights out are not till 10 pm.  She also said she is meeting people from all over the country and making new friends has been great.  She met several others that will be staying in the GL for A school and they are sticking together since after BC they will be together again. So glad to hear her voice.  Have to admit, I cried when I hung up the phone from the joy it brought me just to hear her voice.

Yeah!!!! Good to hear. Seems to mirror what my daughter said too, but my daughter did not sound homesick. Hummmmm so mine is probably happier there than she is at home!?!?!? lol. Probably because she has her own life and she has been working hard toward this and strives to do well. My daughter said the same about meeting friends from all over and passed test. I did not cry but I did feel huge relief. My daughter and your daughter will be in A school together as well. Also my daughter encouraged me to read up about her ship USS Kearsarge. So I did that too!!! xoxo

Today I came home to find a letter from my daughter.  I sat and read it and I felt such a sense of joy.  She sounded so excited and proud to be doing what she is doing.  She talked about what they have been doing day to day and said she hated all the shots she got...exspecially the one in the butt cheek.  LOL  It sounds like this Div is doing well as a group.  I am so proud of her and the others serving their country.  Is there anyone one from this Div going to graduation?  We have booked our room at the Navy Lodge.  Friends of ours have stayed there recently and said it is very nice. Hope everyone else gets their letters soon.

Glad to hear that letters have gotten home!  Not only did we MISS our daughters call last weekend, but we are on vacation this week and have had our mail stopped!!  If we have a letter coming, we won't be able to get it until Monday...  We will be going to graduation, and have a room booked at the Super 8.  We will be driving in Thursday afternoon, and staying until Sunday if she doesn't leave for A School right away.  We don't know that schedule yet.

Just think of what you have to look forward too after you return from your vacation!! We are planning to leave here (PA) on Wednesday and come home Monday.  We hope they will have the weekend off to spend time with us.  Where are you coming from?

We got home early enough today to be able to pick up our mail!!  We got our first letter!  Unfortunately, since we missed her call(s) last week, she only had 5 minutes to write this, so it was very short.  She seems to be doing well though, so that makes it all good.  We are coming from Western Wisconsin - about a 4 1/2 hour drive.

Lucky you....we will have an 11 hour drive from where we live but of course my husband says we can make it in 9 hours.  (he used to drive long haul tractor trailer)  Where will you be staying? We booked a room at the Navy Lodge.  Rates were good and it looked like a nice place plus we had friends stay there about a month ago for their sons graduation and they said it was nice. So glad you got your first letters.....hope they brought a smile to your face like they did mine.

We will be at the Super8.  You must be in western PA - I have relatives near Williamsport that we could get to from the Chicago area in about 12...

We are in the Harrisburg area.  Map quest says 11 hours but the way my husband drives it probably will be like 9 I'm sure.

Kellys Mom:

Thats nice to be able to drive that short of a distance. I am in Florida so it looks like I am going to have to fly or drive. Glad to hear you got letter from your daughter. Hopefully, I will be seeing you in Great Lakes. xoxo

Tiffany

Halfpint:

This mirrors the things I have been hearing from my daughter as well. My daughter sounds like she is really happy and seems to have been born to be in the US Navy. I have gotten 2 letters and 2 phone calls and our daughters, I am certian are friends. xoxo

Tiffany

We just got OUR first call from our SR!!  After her very rough start, she sounds great!!  She did say that this division couldn't be quiet to save their lives, but I think that SHE'S the one that can't be quiet!!
