I received a really nice letter today from my son...he sounded so much more at easy,,,rising to the challenges that he has before him...he is looking forward to the pistol firing and being another week closer to PIR   I was a blithering idiot while trying to reading it out loud to everyone..oh well what else is new...lol  Glad to hear more of you received letters today.   I was beginning to think I should move to TX so I can get my letters as fast you all do...lol  BubbasMom & Kym ..So awesome about the phone calls!!! Congratulations to your sons!!!   Let the feet float for a while you deserve it!

I am one of the ones staying at the Residence Inn that Mushell mentioned. We fly into Midway around 1pm

Howdy All, I am not sure where to get the flag pins.  I fortunately had 2 of the little plastic flags.  I was thinking places like Walmart, Walgreens or one of the craft places.  I'll keep my eyes open for either the metal or plastic flags.  If someone locates them, let the others know.  See you all in a few weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Purty excited!!!!!!!!!!  Is anybody wanting to get together post grad for a meal with our guys and families, something festive like the Bubba Gump restaurant on the Navy Pier, or somewhere a little less expensive and closer. OR  I know Joanne's family and mine are both staying at the Residence Inn 4 miles north of the base.  They have an amazing BBQ area/tennis courts etc.. in the courtyard with lots of tables (in the picture on website) I have a call into the hotel manager to see if we could have a BBQ with 20-30-ish people.  thoughts on that one gang???? who BBQ's in 40 degree weather.....I apparently am crazy enough to want to!
I live in Indiana and we cook out in all weather all year long.  Sounds good.

I like the idea of some of us getting together I think the SRs will like it also to share stories and watever, before they actually go their separate ways/ When it gets closer might be a good time to discuss- hate to make plans for the guys since we can't confirm with them except for letters! They might be making agendas of their own LOL

I CAN"T WAIT TO BE THERE!   come on April 1 !!!

Who knows anything about the "events calendar" meet & greet @ PIR ??

Do we have one on the 31st?  I could come up earlier if I knew.

Can't wait to meet everybody!

Mushell, were from Texas, we can cook out in any weather right??? I don't know yet how long we will get with our 'Sailor', yet, or what he is going to want to do, but I can keep that thought in our plans. I will have to let you know, but I very much hope we can see each other at least at PIR and talk a little bit to all of us that have made this journey together!

I am also not sure about time.  Our SR mentioned he  might have watch that weekend.  WE will all know more soon enough...ok not really.  We can be very flexible.

Is it just me or is everybody noticing a "silence before the storm"...everone is sort of in a quiet lull and not chatting much on here.  Well, as most of you know by now I cant seem to keep quiet for too long!!  Just dropping by to say Hello to everybody. Theres just so much going on in the world right now with Japan...I know that has to be affecting us as well.

BubbasMom and Kym glad your up for a post grad frozen BBQ (lol) or a get together somewhere if it works out on all our guys schedules.  As time gets closer we should all share #'s so if time permits we can get together with our Sailor's  just for a quick hour on Saturday maybe.  My schedule is wide open as far as I know post grad. The hotel manager where I'm staying said No Problemo on using the BBQ, however it will be cold and tables will be out in the weather....ie:snow I think he meant.  Take Care Ladies

I surely hope it wont be SNOW...but it will be chilly!!! That lake wind whipps right thru you up there! We hope we can also join you! I am going today to see if I can find flag pins and gonna make the ribbons this afternoon.

17 more DAYS!!!!

Hey Jodi!  good to hear on the snow....I am just not a cold weather girl.  I just posted a few pics this morning.  I tried to go a bit "incognito" with them.  talk soon, M
I could NOT find flag pins!   I found flag buttons that are circular :-(  .. they will have to do /  I will still try this week and wait to make ribbons until this weekend. Has anyone found flag pins? I went to Hobby Lobby, Walmart, JoAnn Fabrics. I am gonna call our local VFW and see if they know where I can get them. meanwhile I am checkn Mushelle's pics out!  I cant help it...I am so excited  17 days and I see my sailor!    I guess they posted battlestaions for our group is March 27-28.
