For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ship 12 DIV 049.....Anyone else? What does it mean?
My SR is in Ship 12 DIV 049 and I just want to know what it means, and if anyone else here has family members in the same ship and divison. Thanks!!!

Ship 12 is the USS Triton and is the barracks where your SR is staying at the RTC. DIV 049 is Division 049. Division numbers are written with 3 digits (if you are ever given a Division number with 4 digits, it is a holding division and is temporary). A Division is approximately 88 recruits who live and train together. Their Division number is important, for lots of reasons, but it will ALWAYS define them. They write that number on their cover (sailor hat, aka dixie cup or lid) and that always stays with them, well after boot camp is over! You have joined the group, PIR 01/27/2012 TG 10 — 07 Divisions (047–052 & 910) (clickable link), and you will be finding others with recruits in Division 049 there as well and a Discussion will most likely be started within that group for that division. Watch for people with a recruit in Division 050 as well since that is the Brother Division for Division 049 and the recruits will be training together.
The Ship name and number are only important for letter writing purposes while at the RTC. With the Ship and Division information, you are now able to write to your recruit if you have not received the form letter with the address, it is as follows:
SR LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, Middle Initial
USS TRITON, SHIP 12, DIV 049
3515 SAILOR DRIVE
GREAT LAKES, IL 60088-3515
Another thing you will see is that your SR is in TG 10. TG stands for Training Group and includes all of the recruits who are training with your SR and will have PIR on the same day. The numbers for the Training Groups and Divisions start over each year in November because the Navy fiscal year begins in October, so the group that begins trainng during the first week of October is the first TG of the Navy fiscal year.
