OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 397 and 398
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Our son is on ship 12 div 398. He called his GF on Saturday and said there was alot in his group getting in trouble. Guess they are all learning what they can and can't do. The way it sounds I just hope they graduate on October 18! Looking forward to seeing him!

Ship 12; Division 397 called Saturday and just to share a few comments our son made. they started with 60 minutes and minutes were deducted from there for poor behavior or whatever as he said and 19 minutes is what they were left with - he seemed very focused and utilized his time with us. He didn't seemed too concerned about losing time just that is how they do it. He did say that is how it will work with Saturday being their day to call - depending on how much time is left so he asked where to call us next Saturday in case. He said first letters will be mailed today, mail call is every day and they have to open each piece of mail in front of the commander. they just glance at pictures and make sure its a letter. The best was that he did say things lighten up a bit in the evening. Food typical cafeteria and today is 1-5 for his division and he can't wait for 10.18...but all in all if you listen you're okay and its not that bad -- he did not say he liked it! but that it wasn't that bad. Not much time to write either - I had enclosed a page with questions and answers to just circle and he said that is really good - ill get my answers and he can write stuff he wants -- I had only done it once not knowing if he would think "really mom" but apparently he liked it. Hope this helps anyone who missed a call or wasn't the recipient that must be tough - didn't realize the advantage of his leaving by being fresh out of high school with no girlfriend or fiancé...

Thanks CathyN, My son is on ship 12 div 397 also. You have explained a lot. My son did say they might get to call next week but didn't go into detail about how it worked. He pretty much said the same thing "it's not that bad" but he did say he missed home but all in all he sounded good.

Hi Kay - I don't put much on here. Like to stay with just our son's division info to not confuse what's happening and compare... I didn't want to ask him if he missed home - didn't want to take him there...nice to hear someone else described it the same as our son "it's not that bad" as my husband said - he didn't say he liked it. Where is your son's A school? will you be going out to PIR?

Hi Cathy, I don't say much either. He is supposed to be going to Pensacola. We sure do hope that is where he'll be, it is only about a three hour trip from home and yes we will be attending PIR.

Cathy, we've got some smart SR's! If I were a mom, I would want calls from my SR instead of his gf getting them too! I am actually a gf going on fiancé but we are older (26) so building our own nest isn't quite so bad for his m because she understands why he calls his future wife instead of her. She also doesn't speak English very well so I can slowly translate for her. She is just very thankful her son is doing so well :) Then again, I would completely understand if his next call is home to mom. But if I were a momma with a young SR in BC, I would want ALL of the letters and calls!

I completely understand if our son wants to call his GF. She is part of his life just like we are. He's 20 and makes his own decisions. I'm just thankful she is a good Christian girl and God is watching over him! I want him to be happy. He got to call us last Wednesday because he needed us to send him something so we really didn't look for another call from him.

I agree. We are older going in to BC so it's slightly different than a fresh 18 y/o. I encourage him to call his family because even a minute of his voice is heaven enough for me <3 How is Sean doing by the way?

He says its alot harder than he thought it would be. He said alot of people in his division are getting in trouble and it makes it harder on everyone else. I sure hope he's not one of the ones getting in trouble!! Haha! I just can't wait to see how all this changes him. He has struggled with what he wants to do with his life. He's not motivated at all and we finally told him he had to do something with his life. I still wish he would have went active instead of reserves because I'm not sure what he'll do when he gets done with A school. I just pray for him because God knows what's best and I trust him!

How long did he sign up to be a reservist? I have a lot of friends from back home that signed up reserve, and once they hit the sweet spot (E-5 and beyond) they decided the military is what they wanted to do with their life. If he wasn't motivated before, bet you be sure is now!
