smokie, The Navy want their Sailors in tip top shape. So more then likely most people need them removed at some time so they just take care of it during BC. My son had two cysts (behind ear & on eye lid) and they removed both of them. I felt so bad cuz he said they had to wrap his whole head. Well he did get noticed by his RDC's and got his Navy name and he is so glad they did it. Me too cuz I have been telling him to get it done for a few years.
My son called yesterday....about 4:45ish and talked for 10 minutes.
Said he passed the 2nd test, very up beat and passed his fire arm test...scored a 203...
Was happy since he has never fired a gun.
He sounded very tired....but with 18 days to go....so much going on Time is Flying!!!!
I did ask about his Liberty ???
He said at this time for him ... he will be with us follow Graduation till 8:00 pm
Saturday from 10:00am till 8:00 pm and Sunday 10:00am-8:00pm.
Leaving for Pensacola Monday. (need to extend our reservations that’s a Good thing!!!)
He was talking of a fellow sailor who family wasn’t gong to make it for PIR…So asked if
He could join us Friday…..He still has that Good Loving Heart!!!!
Now we need to find a Good Steak House!!!!!!
That is so nice of your son to invite the other sailor to join you guys. My family is only going to be about to stay on friday. We are so upset that we won't be able to stay longer due to work and money. We wish that we would be able to spend the whole weekend there but we just can't. I feel so bad that my brother will be stuck on base the whole rest of the weekend.
Glad to see my son hasn't lost his Caring Heart!!!!
May 21st can't come soon enough!!!!
I'm so Glad you will be there for your Brother!!!!
He is One Lucky Brother to Have you there with him....
Enjoy Every Minute!!!!!
For any Sailors that will be looking for something to do over the weekend after PIR, check www.metrarail.com and look at the Union Pacific North Line. The train has a station right next to the base and the final stop is downtown Chicago. There is a train that gets them back to Great Lakes at 7:25pm. They have a special rate for Great Lakes military in uniform to downtown, $2! (Make sure to tell them to purchase the ticket ON THE TRAIN, not from the machine. Tell them to hop the turnstile if they must, and the conductor will sell them a ticket at the military rate on the train.) We often see groups of sailors downtown, especially around Chicago events like Taste of Chicago. But, that is not til July. The train is definately an option for Sailors that will not have family there over the weekend. It is also an option for Sailors with family that would rather take the train rather than drive downtown and have to find parking.
How good of a steak house do you want. ($$$) We are from Chicago and can give you some suggestions.
Our favorite is Ruth's Chris, downtown Chicago. Pricey though.
We actually can give first names. My son's name is Brandon.
My brother, same ship and division, got to call my mom earlier and talk for about 15 minutes. He said they did so good last week earning 3 flags that they got junk food, sodas and telephones....was a good day!
Got a call from my Daughter Kristin on Saturday - talked for 44 minutes!!!
Was hoping for a call from my son Brandon but no word yet. He is ship 4 div 192
My brother's "real" name is Themie but we call him Timmy. Not sure what name he is going by at RTC because he is signing letters Themie but just wondering if anyone's Sailors have because friends with him. I will be writing him today and I'll ask if he has become friends with anyone that their mothers are on N4M.
