Hi Ladies! Can you believe we've made it this far? Looking back at some of our first posts makes me smile - it seems like a lifetime ago that we started this journey together, yet its only been a few weeks! I know many of you are planning on going to PIR, but I also know there are some families who, for whatever the reason, are unable. I read somewhere (a post, linked to another post, and so on!!) that some moms brought cards and offered hugs to the sailors who might not have anyone there for them. If anyone in this group wont be attending PIR, I would like to get your sailor a message of support and thanks. Even if its just a hug from "mom".  If your comfortable with it, please message me and lets set something up for your sailor. Imagine the surprised look on their faces if someone came up to them with a special message from a loved one!? I hope this message doesnt come across as weird or intrusive, its an innocent attempt to make a Sailor smile & hopefully make a mom feel better about not being there.

That is so thoughtful & sweet of you!

Hello all! I am new to not only being a military mom but to forums and discussion groups. So bear with me please!  I was hoping to find information about graduation. My SR told me only four people can come and his siblings (he has 5) are sad to hear they won't get to see him.  If we bring them with us (we live close so they can just hang out somewhere during the actual graduation) will we get to have our sailor for a few hours afterwards. What happens to the sailors after graduation?  Do they leave or do they stay on base?  I am so confused! By the way I love the idea of helping out a parent that can't make it!

Hello, Have you received your sons Form letter with the list of 4 names he has chosen to come? How old are his siblings? If any of them are 12 or under than they can get in no matter what. After graduation your son will most likely get liberty and can go into town with you and your family and hang out unti approx 8 that evening. After his liberty is up then he will report back to base and head out that next day (depending on where his A School is). If you are on FB you should look up the PIR 9/21 group. Most of us from here are on there and it's a lot more active and closed. The link is on the next page over Pg. 9 of the discussion board.

Thank you! I found the FB page yesterday and couldn't stay away!  Learned so much and feel more informed.  My SR's youngest sibling is 10 so she is coming with us (she misses him almost as much as I do!)  High school sisters will wait in Visitor's Center.  We are all so excited!  Can't wait to take him home even if its only for a few hours!!!

Welcome to the group! If you look on the new members page and other pages that say PIR info, I bet all your questions will be answered! Definitely join the FB page, proud navy wife is right, there is alot more activity over there!

Thanks! I just did and it made a world of difference as far as feeling informed!

You are so sweet, what a great idea! if you can use some help, let me know. I will be there too, and look forward to meeting you. I think we should change your name from "Worried Mama" to Sweet Navy Mama" (heehe)

I will bring some extra cards. What is your son's name?

Yeah!  I just got my I'm a sailor call from my son.   Div 299  all passed

My husband is in the same DIV and said the same thing. WHoo Hoo!!!! Are you in the FB group?

Hi Navy Moms. I am Dillon's Mom. So nice to meet you!

Hi. My son got some time on the computer today and it looks like our sons may be friends. I noticed that he added a Dillon from Antioch to his FB.  :)  Hope to meet you in a few days.
