OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Hi. My son is on ship 14 div 54. I have not been on in a few days but I did get a letter on Friday with adopt-a-sailor paperwork. Since we live in CA my husband and I were not sure what to do being that a couple of weeks later we are going to P.I.R. (spell check keeps changing it to PUT if I don't put the periods) along with the form letter he wrote a letter that said not to worry talking to us on Saturday helped and that he went to church on Sunday and that brought him some peace and calm. Saturday we got another call from him and before we hung up he said I know it is a lot to ask but I really need one of you to come for Christmas so I will be going to see him for Christmas. In my first post for those of you who haven't seen it he was so sad, when he called the first time. He felt overwhelmed by his job (Recruit yeoman), he was super homesick and overly tired. I worried all week until I received his letter. He was much more up beat I the letter. He said he was adjusting better, he went to church the Sunday after we talked and felt much better. Oh how those were sweet words to this worried Mama's ears When we talked to him on Saturday he sounded much better than the first call other than saying he needed one of us to be there for Christmas. He said he was learning how to delegate and ask for help in his job, (he is a super perfectionist so he has a hard time letting go) from what I understand of this position it is a lot of paperwork. He passed his first physical testing the Monday before, and he was making friends. Still super homesick but I guess that is to be expected.
Any ideas or suggestions of what there may be to do on Christmas day in that area? Food obviously but will restaurants be open that day? I encouraged him to invite a div mate.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. I know I don't know any of you personally but let me just say how good it feels to be able to share with people who understand how I am feeling, and to be able to hear what all of you have to say. Nice to not feel so alone in this. I honestly think if one more person says it is just like them going off to college I may punch them. Lol! I would never actually do it but I definitely see it in my head!! Too honest?

California: SO glad you will be there for him! That is a L ON G way to go....I'm sure he is so appreciative and it will do your heart good too!
Here is a highly recommended restaurant link .... ladies in the past have said it is wonderful. Great food and great staff. Normally your SR/sailor eats for free. Not sure about Christmas Day--if he will eat free-- but you can ask! Enjoy!

California: Hi my daughter is in the same div and ship as your son. How is he doing. My daughter is doing good wish I could see her for Christmas but I cant afford to go but I am gonna go to her graduation. Which I am excited for. We also live in California. Were abouts do you guys live. Well take care and talk to you soon.

We are from the valley Lodi to be exact. How about you? He sounds better and better with each phone call and letter. In the beginning I was a little worried. The first time he called he was a little overwhelmed and a lot home sick. He is the Div Yeoman and apparently it is a lot of paperwork. So it took him a minute to find his barings. Sounds like it is going much better now that he has adjusted and is learning how to speak up when he needs help. I was not going for Christmas either however when he said "I know I said it was not a big deal if someone came for Christmas or not but I really need someone to come" I could not say no. Since we have 2 other children my husband will stay home with them. I am a little torn about being away from everyone for Christmas but I know he would not ask if it was not important to him, but I also know after graduation I know we won't see him until after A-school I am also looking forward to the time together. When are you leaving for graduation? Did you already book your flight? I asked my son on Friday when he called if it was too soon to book our flights and he said no so I will be doing that this week.

Thats good that he is doing better. Ya my daughter was home sick also but seems to be doing better she just can't wait to get out of there. Shes going to Texas for her school so at least the weather will be a little better than where they are now. Thats cool that your going for christmas that will be nice. Wish I can go also but can't afford to go both times. We are from riverside ca. We are planning on leaving on that thurs the 9th and returning on the 11th. So at least we will have that day of graduation to spend with them since they leave the next day for school. No its not to soon I am working on booking the flights asap. I am gonna go through AAA since it seems to have good deals.

I'm not sure if you saw alice posted a link and there are 2 places with indoor mini golf and like a food court arcade type that would be open xmas day (: one is the peoples choice family center I believe and its in Waukegan, il 11 miles from rtc (:
other than that ihop in Waukegan next to la quinta inn was the only place I found open besides fast food (: hope this helps me & my girls are also flying out there 11 days cant wait(:

Well ladies, I will no longer be writing. My daughter will be coming home in a couple of weeks. She is being medically discharged. I am sad about this,but happy that I will be seeing her again soon.
