OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 323 and 324
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

My son is 324 ship 14 Others on this website have said that their sailors had told them no more phone calls until after battlestations. My last call was on July 26th. He did not say anything himself about no more calls. Ithink BC is seven weeks of training and possibly the first week did not count as thr fourth of July fell right after they arrived. So if that is true this would be the 5th week and we should get the I am a sailor call somewhere during the week of the 19th. This is mu very un-military experience guesstimate on what is going on. I think the last two weeks are pretty intense so we will just have to wait like all the Mom's before us. Do you have your travel arrangements completed? Look forward to PIR 8/30!!

I am starting to become worried as well. No letters or calls for over 2 weeks. I check the mail everyday very hopeful. I called her recruiter and got the standard "No news is good news" but I just want to make sure she is ok. They must be really busy and tired. I am counting the days till the 30th and keep writing to her. Hopefully at least she is getting our mail.

Hello everyone! My son is Ship 14 Div 323. It has been 2 weeks since I've heard from him. Do you know if there is something going on?? I was getting a call quite regularly, but nothing in the last 2 weeks. This has been the hardest thing I've done in my life! I haven't made reservations yet because the last thing he told me was that the division wasn't doing great and might not graduate on time?? Anyone else hear this? It's getting close, 3 weeks, and I want to make reservations soon. Thanks!

Ok, got a letter from my son yesterday (Yay!) I guess I should have waited! haha! Anyways, he said things were somwhat better. Very proud of my AROC! Oh, and made my reservations...boy, I sure wish I'd have done it sooner! Not a lot to choose from in my price range..LOL Hope you all are having a great week. TGIF :)

I got a letter from my daughter, yesterday also, things are getting better for them. Where are you staying?
I made my reservations last week, and I was having a hard time also, we are driving up from Philadelphia 13 hours. We are very excited to see graduation. Where is your son going to A school? My daughter is going to Pensecola. We are trying to go to the meet and greet, are you going to go to that? Have a great week. Only 20 more days.

We are staying at Homewood Suites by Hilton. My mom and son are coming with me. I'm driving up from Georgia - the trip should be about 13 hrs for us too - but with my mom coming, we'll have to make multiple stops (she has degenerative disc disease) - so we are splitting the trip into 2 days. Leaving Wednesday when I get off work, then finishing the drive Thursday. Too expensive to buy 3 plane tickets! We are very excited too!! Cannot wait! He will be going to A school in Chicago/Great Lakes :( Wish he was going to FL!! lol Yes, I'd like to go to meet and greet as well. You have a great week too!

There seems to be quite a few more phone calls home granted recently, but remember phone calls are not a given unless something is wrong, asmo'd, failing a test, injured and sent to medical etc. If you are not getting a phone call believe it or not it is good news.
When my son was there he got a total of four, the "I am here", the "I am still alive" about half way through, a what's up call a week before BS, and then the "I am a SAILOR" call. He earned two other calls, but was never able to make them through no fault of his own.
Cherish each phone call, be prepared to get one at any time, but never expect one. Hang in there, no news really is good news.

Ok, thank you! I've just been worried because of hearing that the division isn't doing well. I heard from another mother and she said her daughter told her that they are the "worst" division. :( My son is really trying hard and doing what he's supposed to so it is discouraging to find out there are other SR's who are not doing what they are supposed to be doing and that it may affect his being able to graduate timely.

MsGray, It is not unusual for the RDCs of a division to tell them they are the worst division. They do that to put some fire under their butts to get them motivated.
I know we are taught that negative motivation is not the answer, but in the Navy it can be the only way. Most recruits "get it" and there are those that don't unfortunately, but those that never will should have already been weeded out.
Sometimes telling them they are the worst gives those that are getting it a push to get those that are not on the right track. The Navy is all about team work!
I promise that things are going along fine they just need a kick in the pants to keep it going.

My son is part of ship 14 div 324. We miss him very much. Have not had a letter in awhile and its been 19 days since we have had a call. The last call was to let us know he had to go to medical because he ended up with a sinus infection and an ear infection but have not heard back that he is over it. I guess no call just need to assume he is fine? Can not wait to see him on the 30th.

Finally received a letter from my son - Yeah! He started it in week 3 and didn't get to finish it until week 5. He said the days are 16 hours long and needs whatever sleep he can get! He has passed all his tests and inspections. Looking forward to PIR in 2 weeks! Hope this is helpful to all you moms who haven't heard from your SRs in a while! Knowing that they are putting in long hours and need their sleep is important.

Great news for you! :) I got a letter yesterday too! It's so very exciting when we get one, and so heart breaking when we don't! I got in "trouble" with my son for being worried and "carrying on"..lol I told him I was the Moma and that was my job! My son, Matthew, said that things are better and getting better every day :) Makes my heart sing to hear that! 2 weeks from right now (it's 10:30am here) we'll get to hold our Sailors in our arms! Yay!!
