OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hey everyone!
I just got the letter from RTC with Ashley's address and grad date (May 06,2011) Does anyone else have a future sailor on the same ship and division?

He might be the "backup" in case someone gets hurt.. Aveomare's hubby was back up, then someone got hurt, so now he is carrying a flag. My SR said..."there are 3 div. w/in the 900 div.... Flag, Triple Threat and Staff. Triple threat is the choir, band and guns. (integrated) Staff (all male) work at the graduation. They fix the flags for them if they get wrapped around and they mostly drag people out from other div. when they faint." She said when she got to RTC, they needed people in the flag div., so that is why she is carrying a flag.
I got that info in today's letter! :)

LOL, well, my SR was in a state recognized band and competed alot, so I am sure it wouldn't bother him either way. I just hope that we get as much time with our sailors as the other divisions on Friday, I just don't want to have to sit around while he has to clean up and things of that nature. :-) But, he, his family and I am so very blessed that he is doing so well. I am staying busy, busy, busy until May 6.

The performing div just has to take their flags etc back to their ship, then will be dismissed. My son told us to go to the NEX building, (short walk across from the grad hall), and go to the end past the Subway /Taco Bell/pool tables inside where there are couches. We probably only waited 30 min till he was there. Lots of people head over there, but most stop at the NEX, so keep going to nab a couch or two! Trust me, you'll be wiped out and probably hungry if you didn't eat breakfast.

Alright thanks. I appreciate the info. I hope that continues to be the case for my sailor. He quoted them being done by noon, which still isn't bad if we have to have him back by 7:30-8:00pm But, even a hour more is great! :-)

Don't want it to get too quiet in here so I'll let you guys know what I did today. I met up with a bunch of wonderful women who are from a group for NJ navy moms (a sub group on this site). We had Lunch at this little buffet place in the middle of Jersey, there were about 6 of us. Some of them were very seasoned navy parents and they gave me some insight into deployments and stuff like that. I cried when I told them it was my first navy thing I'd attended! Just when I thought I was getting strong enough to not cry I go and break down LOL. It was absolutely lovely and it really goes to show what a wonderful community I've stumbled into.

Hello sisters...
So sorry I haven't been here all week. I had a rough one. I'll share in hopes that maybe someone can offer some advice. First, my husband went to the doctor and his PSA levels were off, he is being tested for prostate cancer on Tuesday. He has always had issues with his prostate but for the past month he's had what appeared t be a wicked infection... the dr is concerned enough to want him to get it tested. I have a peaceful feeling about this, I think it;s going to be OK... that was the first crisis.
To tell you about hte second crisis, I have to go back about 18 months. My youngest daughter then 16 and 1/2 was discovered talking toa 21 year old man, when my hubby and I found out, WE FREAKED. We cut it off, but the two of them apparently thought we weren't serious. It got so out of hand, we had to go to court to keep this GROWN MAN from pursuing my daughter.
Fast forward 18 months to Sunday evening. My daughter has been forbidden to speak to this guy and by all appearances she hadn't had any contact at all, her and I grew VERY close after the incident 18 months ago, she brought her grades up to honor roll, was doing well in police explorers, attitude adjusted, everything was good. On Sunday, I discovered they had been talking for the past several months. She turned 18 last Friday and when I confronted her, she admitted she was talking to him and refused to stop. Thursday afternoon, she called me and told me she wasn't coming home.... I haven't seen her since. Devastation doesn't describe what I am feeling. I NEVER saw this coming. Our family is extremely close. Her grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins are all extremely involved in her life. Typical Italian family... I feel like I am in the middle of a bad dream. Her sister has NO CLUE what is going on and I don't want to tell her while she is i boot camp. She is going to be devastated, They are close. Cassie does not have Ashley's address either, so she won't be able to contact her. This guy is reputed to be verbally and emotionally abusive. His ability to separate her from her family and our protection has me extremely concerned.
I am totally helpless with this. The law says she can go... her head tells her she can go and she is able to handle this. ugh.... I don't know what to do.
Thanks for letting me vent... I have no one here really that can talk too, I am so embarrassed by this. What did I do wrong? I keep trying to think back to figure what mistakes I've made... I didn't raise my kids to do something like this. Anyway... that's my crisis... :(

It feels better just talking about it. Like a bit of the load has been lifted or something. I'm telling you, after raising teenage girls, I TOTALLY understand why mother animals eat their young!!!
My son has been wonderful. He has been working his butt off with me the last 2 days and cooked dinner for me tonight and last night. My husband is on nights so it's just Louie and I and he has just been a little prince. He's the last one at home and thankfully, he is super committed to school and Key Club, has some really nice friends. I never have to worry about who he's with or what he's doing... He's a homebody too so that helps LOL.
