For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

smilner, Absolutely we can compare notes all along the way. My big worry is that they really weed kids out in Dive Prep, one class went from 42 to 18 that went on the Florida. My son has been working so hard since last June, he would be so upset. I am sure all the Diver's know one another. I am hoping that we get a real letter this week, I'm dying for it!
Just changed my reservation to the Ramada, I see many are staying there. Hope it's decent! lol!

I changed my screen name as I saw a suggestion not to use real names for security purposes.Ozzy,I'm worried about that too.My son pretty much lazied up on working out for the couple of months before he left.I hope that won't be to his detriment!I just keep praying for him.

my diver, hello! There are a few of us on here...My SR worked like crazy to get his contract. He was never very athletic, more into academic pursuits, but really became fit once he was in DEP. He also slacked off a bit the last few months, not sure why. But, I do know that with the structure and constant physical preparation, he'll be okay. (I hope?) He would be devastated if he didn't make it through dive prep or dive school for that matter..I have to admit, as much as we researched everything, I didn't know about dive prep...completely slipped under the radar. I keep reminding myself, they prepare them continuously to get ready for the really tough physical tests, right? I mean, they don't just put them in the pool one day with tanks and say "okay, tread water"...they build up to it. Ozzy, I'm with you. I'm hoping for a letter this week. The week three phone call comes after week three? Is that right? If not...this is week three. Or, thinking out loud here, maybe its week three in their ship, in which case, it would be the week after that...geez, we're going to drive ourselves crazy trying to figure all of this stuff out.

forevermom, it is my understanding that EOD stays in GL for 3 weeks after graduation for water skills and physical training. They move on to FL. from there. We got an information packet on EOD from the recruiter that has a ton of info, when our son signed his contract. I don't know how much I can say... I would talk to his recruiter for more info. I hope this helps.

Its quiet here too. Dreary weather here, also. Its these kind of days that I don't have much to do but laundry that i start thinking about what is going on with him. To tell you the truth I am not holding my breath for a letter. He is not much of a writer. I just know that he is fine. It is ok to feel sad and grieve. This is a big change in our life and the life of our SR. They are always going to need us just in a different capacity. Keep that chin up :)

hey forever mom, another day with no contact. Did some retail therapy today. Only lasted while i was shopping but did get some great things for my hubby! We are in the middle of a big ice storm. Kinda like being stuck at home. Writing is great therapy for me, also. Even just telling my SR that the big tree at the end of the driveway finally fell over( and it did) makes me feel so much more connected. I hope we get to meet at PIR. It is not easy being the parents of adult children. How did that happen anyway? I mostly feel like I am not old enough for this....

I got a letter from my son today. I am so excited! He sounds like he is doing OK. He said the letters from home are what gets him through the day! I hope all of you got a letter today as well. Counting the days till PIR!!

As a rule you will get letters from your recruit on the same day each week and just once a week. If you happen to get more which is very rare feel blessed but that is not the norm. Remember that issues they talk about in their letters will have probably resolved itself by the time you get the next letter so try not to stress.
just want to remind everyone that you should not use have any pictures of your recruit or use their first or last name here on this site. If their name is part of your screen name you should adjust that also.
If you have questions just ask.
