Hi Diana! My son Joshua is in Ship 07/ Div 357. I got the form letter yesterday with his mailing address and graduation date. He is my oldest (19) and I miss him more than words. I cannot even begin to so how excited I will be to get his first written letter. I got his box on clothes on Thursday. October 28 cannot come fast enough! Melissa :-)

Hi Melissa, My husband and I got the chance to meet Diana and her son in Houston on the day they left.  Our boys are even in the same career field.  We are so looking forward to Chicago.  I have relatives in Michigan that will be meeting us also. My son that left is our oldest (18).  Both my husband and I started out in the military.  No student loan burdens. Looking forward to tomorrow's mail, hoping he wrote us a note.   Lori
I can't wait to get my first letter from my son! My son that left is 20 and his is the first one to leave home.  It is alot harder than I thought it would be!

Melissa, what field or rank is your son?

My son is in ship 07 div 357.  We are from texas as well.  I have not heard from him except for the box and form letter.  I check this forum everyday just for some small amount of comfort.  I miss him terribly as I am sure do all of you miss yours.

logansproudmom, is your son going into subs? My son is going into subs.
No subs, HM-Corpsman. He will be in San Antonio after boot camp and then B school in NC with the Marines.

My son will be doing both of his schools in CT.  About 41 weeks, hopefully he will be able to come home for Christmas!

Welcome!

Lucky you, at least your son will be in Texas for the first school.
Hi Diana & Lori. That is great you guys got to meet each other before the kids left. We are from new orleans and there were 6 recruits total leaving that day and we were the only family there. Joshua is going into aviation and will go to A school in Pensacola for 6 weeks, Then he will either be sent to San diego , Boston or Jacksonville. We have no military experience in our immediate family so this is all new to us. I mailed off his first letter to him this morning and Im going to right him something each night so there wont be a day that he receives nothing. He has his girlfriend and other family writing him also but I wanna make sure he has something to read every day. Once he gets to A school he will only be about 3 hours away so I will definetly be visiting him on weekends. We should get our first letter probably wed or  thur according to how long it took to get the form letter.

Hi Melissa,

My son is also 7/357 and will be going to Pensacola for A school. Are you attending the meet and greet thursday night before graduation? I am in MS and Pensacola is not too far for me to drive on weekends either! Hope to meet you.

Hi llarmour! R you on fb? I recognize that last name. Did your son leave out of New orleans on 9/1? I remember my son saying there was a guy there from Miss and one that was going to A school with him. I wont be going to the meet n greet bc my flight will be getting in later that evening but I will be looking for everyone at PIR. So glad he will have someone at A school that he knows already bc just when they are getting used to everyone they are saying goodbye. We are sooooo lucky to be sooo close and I plan on driving to Pensacola every chance I get. Even better one they get to phase 3 of liberty they will get to come home for the weekend. You should really join the Pensacols sailors group. I have gotten so much info about A school from them.I'm gonna friend request you. You will see it listed in my group on my profile page.
