Thanks for the info.!   I went out as soon as I read your note and got another card for 450 min., sent it out this morning before work.   I can only hope he will receive it in time for the call this week, if not hope to get another later.

Watch your mailboxes!   I got my first letter from my son today (didn't expect the Navy stationary).  I didn't get past the second line before I started crying like a baby, but I am so proud of him!

My son is also Ship 03 Div 149...He called me twice so far with requesting more info on his Security Clearance- so I got to talk to him and was fabulous to hear his voice. He said he is personally doing great- but the Division is not- learning team work has been especially hard for the Division....I wonder if this is usual. He worries they will be rolled back.
So glad to join your discussions as it helps.
I made my hotel and air flight reservations - the Residence Inn by Marriott was recommended by others who stayed - and they have a shuttle to the Base for PIR.
I finally got a letter too and it seems none were allowed to write until just last Sunday.

My son commented on how come of the guys were having difficulties listening. I hope it turns around for them. B is enjoying BC so far himself, though. I suppose it's harder for some people to learn to do what you're told to do that others. I think my son was probably used to being told what to do.  lol

We just booked our room at the Ramada. We'll probably have to drive instead of using the shuttle as my mom's in a wheelchair and has a handicap van. Guess we'll get a good parking spot that way, though.

I think I've read the 2 letters I've received about a hundred times. I loved being able to know a glimpse of what they're going through.

I am so glad to hear from you, Chimelle!  My son J also commented on a few not listening or following directions and he was sooo discouraged and  frustrated with that- but doing great personally and that relieves my mind to hear he is doing well himself!  I think you are right and I can not believe that eventually these "few" will soon "get it".  J said they all had to stand at attention for an hour for punishment. They are getting alot of punishment because the Division is not doing well.  I think learning to follow directions and work as a team is the most difficult thing.  I too hope it turns around for them...and I am sure it will eventually. God bless them.

My son said the same thing in his letter, they are having a hard time with teamwork.   I have been reading everything I can on boot camp, the first week is mainly processing, second is physical conditioning and confidence courses.  The third week (which was this week I believe) is team-building so hopefully they will work it out and become a well oiled machine!

Yes- they will come out like polished steel!  I can't wait to see them marching through those doors!!

I have every confidence that what they are going through is normal and they may feel like it is only them, but I bet many divisions go through this.

B said he is making friends, though. His rackmate is going Airman and another young man close to him is also going CTN so they'll all go to Pensacola together. I'm hoping they form tight bonds with some as they'll be together for awhile. I'm sure the BC experience brings people close together.
I wonder if our sons then are close together- J  is going to CTN in Pensacola too!!!  I will have to ask then if he is close to a B going to Pensacola.

my SR is going to Pensacola too! Wasn't the original plan but it changed now.

Maybe all of our SR's will get to know each other more.

I've also heard the division isn't doing well when it comes to teamwork, and taking things seriously and other things. Hope they straighten up soon! my SR too is worried about them getting rolled back. But can they do that to an entire division??

I don't know if they can hold back an entire Division because of a few. I  also have read some other groups that are also saying some of their younger men are not listening and not following directions, so made me think that this is the part that tears them down and then once they get it, will build them up again?  At any rate- i hope and pray everyday they improve. Send lots of encouragement to your SR !!!
Hi TxMom17!  My son is also in ship 3 division 149.  I have received just the standard form letter, no real letter yet, but his girl friend has received 3 letters!  Guess bringing him into the world was not enough!  I have mailed letters every day so far, my goal is to embarass him underneath mail.
