rescue swimmer here.

YES - my son is EOD

He has not said anything about other EOD -- he went in with one other guy from our area that is hoping to do EOD too.  His eyes knocked him out of seals and like your son picked EOD in hopes to get attached to a SEAL group.

He has since met a friend of mine who has a son in EOD and he really is happy he chose it now.

Hi, I'm new to this site. My boyfriend left July 3rd with a contract for EOD. I received a letter earlier this week saying they are now allowed to have time on Tuesdays and Thursdays to write letters. Hopefully we will all be hearing from our SR more often! I cannot wait to see him! Only 23 more days to go! :)

OK, I went ahead and changed my hotel reservations from the Ramada to the Candlewood Suites.  I read such horrible things about the Ramada (i.e. smelly, dirty, bad area, etc.....) I started to panic about it and changed it today. I feel much better about it.  The rate was just as good and the front desk seemed very helpful and told me about the shuttle to PIR and how to sign up for it when we check in.  I also RSVP'd to Sarge's Meet and Greet for Thursday evening.  I already have arrangements with him to pick my husband and I up at OHare and take us back on Sunday.  I feel Like I've done all the planning I can possibly do....just wait 5 more Friday's!  I hope I will get a letter in the mail today, nothing yesterday although some of you did and I've been a day behind some of you.  I'm hoping to hear my son sound a little more upbeat.

My husband and I are at candlewood - but will not get in til late Thursday

Hi there 818 moms and others,

You must be very happy to see your countdown under 30 days now!  Letters will be sounding more upbeat and your SRs will be busier than ever.

If your SR is sticking around GL right after PIR, he will have liberty on Saturday and Sunday, too.  Other moms have heard that return times differ with different commanders, but your SR will be briefed before release Friday afternoon and then you will know exactly what the time requirements will be.  Some other divisions have A school in Pensacola and other places, and they head for the airport in the wee hours of the morning Saturday and wait for their flight out.

Hang in there, and keep writing to your SR.  They count on letters from home to keep their morale up!

My husband and I got a letter today!  His letter sounded so much more upbeat.  He was excited that he got promoted to E-2 the day before he wrote his letter.  He said he's doing well and can't wait to see us at graduation.  Does anyone know what day our SR's receive mail?  He keeps asking about who is coming to graduation (there's a question about a grandparent coming or not) and I have written to him at least 4 times telling him who is coming.  I wonder if it's just the delay in them receiving mail.  Our son is a diver with a goal of SEAL in the future.  Anyone else staying at the Red Carpet Inn?  28 days.....

Congrats on getting your letter and your son's promotion. I was wondering about the mail also. I've asked my SR several questions that he has yet to answer. Don't know if he just doesn't want to or he's in too big of a hurry to remember to answer them. Oh well, they weren't really important, more of what are you doing type of questions and he has yet to give any details of what his day is like. I know he's getting the mail though because he told he he likes the cheesy jokes that I include in every letter. Hopefully we will get another letter today. I think he told his girlfriend they can write more often now.

My son is a rescue diver.  And we are staying at the Courtyard Marriot. But we haven't signed up for a meet and greet.  It sounds like most are going to Sarge's, correct?

My son wrote me and told me they can write letters 3 days/wk now - I think Tue, thu, and Sun.  But we still only get one a week.  I think he is writing his GF more often, but am not sure.  And, Adamsproudmama, I think your SR had to choose 4 individuals to go to the graduation and he should have listed them on the initial form letter he sent you about graduation.  If he's asking if others can be there or not, the information I have obtained is that extra individuals can get onto the base and if there are any extra spots for graduation, they can go in those spots.  I have also been told that I should let Brett know of other family members who would like to go to graduation and maybe he can put them on the list of those SR's who don't have 4 people coming????    Not sure if this is true, but my husband also has been trying to get info on this and he feels this is good info.

My son sounds ok in his letters.  Congrat on your SR's promotion!!!  That's awesome!  My son really hasn't give us a lot of info about his days in his letters either, but he did tell us that a scuff on his boot caused him some extra work.  He said that he is trying to listen well so he doesn't miss something and cause more problems for himself or his unit. He did tell us that he had to have his wisdom teeth out.  And I think he is still the mail petty officer.  Otherwise, we don't get a lot of info.  He says he misses us and his bed.  :)

Hopefully will get a letter this week.....

Hi queenanne, I guess getting wisdom teeth pulled is a common theme.  My SR had his "ripped" out too (his words, not mine) lol.  The guests for graduation is not a matter of having more than 4 going, but more of who is going.  My SR had originally listed one of his grandmothers to go, and when I called her to get the exact name on her ID, she informed me she wasn't going.  So I had to let my SR know the change and see if he could add his girlfriend (which he has since done).

We are staying at the Red Carpet Inn, which is only a mile from the base.  We were given a really good recommendation by friends who stayed there last year when their son graduated from bootcamp.  I RSPV'd to Flanagan's which is right across the street, for a meet and greet on Thursday night.  I hear the food there is terrific.

I hope you get letters this week too!  23 days and counting.......:)

Aaahhh. I understand your question/concern now about graduation. Glad you got it all worked out! I haven't spoken with my SR yet so I have some questions for him about it. I wrote them all down in a letter so hopefully I will get answers in his next letter to us.

Cant wait to see him! Yes only 23 more days!

And we still haven't decided on a meet and greet. Not sure what we will do. I do know we have a number of family coming and I should get their input. :)
