Wow... not sure where to begin with my feelings or thoughts. My daughter just signed up on April 13th and was shipped out on April 27th. Is that too fast or what?  She started talking to her recruiter in March. She passed the test with high scores and the medical with no problems. She signed, shipped and is gone! already... we have had no time to prepare...She is 23 with a College AA degree and was offered a great job. She is schedule for A school right after graduation. I dont even know when that will be. I guess she will let me know. Anyways ... what can expect now? any help is welcomed ....

I am so proud of her but I too can't stop crying... I have had no time to prepare for her leaving. I hear all about others waiting months to ship out . Why did she go so fast? Why?

Where do I start for answers?

Thank you so much ....

aw - just come here for answers! What job did she choose? They all go to A school after boot camp, though. The different jobs depends on where and for how long. Is she going to try to be an officer since she has a degree? I am not sure what a College AA degree is.
Hi,
She has a full 2 year degree working on her BS.... her job is oppose to be AV Electronic tech... (working on airplanes ...I think) her scores were high and they said they dont offer that to job to women alot... We know she is going to Pensacola, Fl for A school...

Alot of what I am feeling is the time ....there was no time.... does this happen a lot?
This is my oldest child of 4 and the first to leave the nest. I didnt think it would hurt so bad!
Again we are very proud ...very proud....
Wow! that was fast! I know it didn't leave you much time to prepare but you should consider her very fortunate. Many kids wait for months and months before a slot opens up. Having a college degree and getting a high ASVAB score went a long way towards her getting that good job. What job is it?
AV Electronic tech... I think that what they called ...working on airplanes.... funny thing is ...she was working on getting a nurses degree... she was trying for nursing school when she started looking into the Navy for help... funny how life is... always changing

her recuiter said it is a foot in and she can still go towards her nursing too
Hi mommyruth ~ I feel your pain. The same thing happened to my daughter when she went into the Navy. Unfortunately, you are going to get crash course in being a Navy mom. The only thing I know is that the 8 weeks will be over before you know it. It seems like forever, but next thing you know is it is finished. The lack of communication is what drove me crazy. Just go day by day, and the N4M site is your toolbox. Everything question you have, the answers are here. This was my saving grace. I'm doing this 2 more times, and I still come here to find out answers. N4M made me feel not so alone. Good luck, she will be fine. No news is good news, remember that.
Wow! We have almost exactly the same story! My daughter walked into the Navy recruiter's office in early April, took her tests and arrived at Great Lakes on April 28th. Maybe our girls are together? My daughter score high also, I'm told that's why she got in so quickly. She will be going to A school in San Diego to become a sonar tech.
Yes... I am still numb from it all.... I finally got a letter from her... that helped ...it wasn't a long letter basicly just her address...but now I can send her all the letters I have written to her... She is schedule for graduation on June 25th and going to A School in Penacola, Fl..... least we know that much! Still waiting on the box... I am almost dreading it.... anyways....

I was feeling down yesterday when the doorbell rang... Flowers from HER for Mother's Day.... Again here came the tears.... how did she do this ?

The girls are in good hands and have a big opportunity for both of them. Praise God.
