For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

In answer to your question. I am truthfully not handling it very well. I retired 36 years from Verizon and had Ryan at age 37. I have to find something to do or I am going to go crazy. That is why I am in the process of Volunteering at the Bay Pines VA hospital in St. Petersburg, Fl.

OMG I can't believe you voluenteer at Bay pines. My father in law who is a great guy urrently a patient there.
He's in the section where they rehab you. It would be a great thing if you can stop in a say hi for me! Us. If you can pm me. We stayed at the Fisher House when we went there. That was a wonderful place such caring people run that!

Chief,
I am in the process. They are doing a background check on me now and I have to go to Orientation. OMG!! I am so very happy that we have made a connection. Bay Pines is a few miles from my place. I live on North Redington Beach. Wow! Everytime I go to walmart I pass The VA on Bay Pines Blvd so I made up my mind I was volunteering there so I could have some kind of mission and to give back to our Veterans. I would be more than happy to go see your father-in-law. I am also trying to get on with TSA at the Airport as a screener. I have passed all tests and background etc. Now they have me on medical hold because I had to disclose that I take blood pressure medication. I had to go to my Doctor and he had to sign off that I was fit even though I already went to their physician for a medical. Getting on with the Federal Govt is like pulling teeth but I may get there. I am following through on the VA. They are in much need of Volunteers. They just like to make sure they have good people. I have no criminal record and am a dependable honest person so that will not be a problem. If I am helping there it will be good and less time I can sit and worry.

Yes this is his first deployment and I hope the last. I am trying to figure out how to navigate through this. I am a basket case and previously was what I thought was a very strong resilient person. My son's name is Ryan. He just left about 15 minutes ago for another mission until Friday. I did do something. I have filled out paperwork to volunteer at the Bay Pines VA Hospital very close to me. Now if I can just get my act together to go down there and turn in the rest of my paperwork. Where is your son?

Diane, I saw you post that your son is on another mission until Friday; mine also. He's been told three times this was his "last mission" before returning home. Each time we would anxiously wait to hear from him and each time exhale and breathe again once we heard his voice. He is currently on a five day patrol and I hope and pray that this is indeed the LAST one before returning because my nerves are frayed and my insides feel as though a volcano is about to erupt at any moment. Stay plugged into Navy For Moms and you will find the support, care, encouragement and friendships that will carry you through the road ahead. Take Care!!

Oh Gosh Susan you do know how I feel. I am and also I can tell you are a strong individual and it sounds like you have been going through this a lot longer than myself. Nobody understands. You and your son and family are in my thoughts. Where is your son?
