Hi this is Lorelei. My son is leaving for GL on 1-19-11. I can't believe it's already here. He's so excited and nervous about going and his dad and I are in shock. How did it get here so fast? Would love to hook up with anyone who's son is heading out on this date. We live in Oregon. It's cold here but not as cold as Chicago.

My son goes in on the 19th also. We're in Michigan.
Mine too -- and I'm in Chicago, 30 minutes from Great Lakes so I will be sending positive thoughts in that direction as all our SRs arrive.

Hi Beth, I pointed these 2 Navy Moms to the site Dep-pers leaving in Jan. I hope we see them there. Hope you're having a great day.

Lorelei

Hello Lorelei! You are wonderful!  I'm still trying to figure out this site...you can join so many different groups, discussions, etc, but if I did that I really would never get any work done.  My phone beeps whenever someone comments on the Dep-pers leaving in January and I can't seem to get myself to wait and just review them when I get home.  Therefore, I'm constantly logging on and off.  LOL.  It is what gets me through the day though!

My son is gone the next two days and while I hate not having every minute with him, it will also give me the opportunity to catch up on things around the house.

Hope you are having a good day too.  See you on Dep-pers leaving in Jan.!

hi everyone... mine too will be leaving for great lakes on january 19,2011.. i feel so sad and nervous..

Hi Mae, join us over on the group Dep-pers leaving for Boot Camp in January. There are several moms there in our same position. It is wonderful to have their support and the knowledge who have gone before us. God bless you and your son. Yes, I am nervous for him and sad for me. But... our boys must grow up and leave us, that's what it has all been about. We are so blessed.
Hi Mae my son is also leaving 01/19/11 and me and my mother the (grandma) have already started with tears and  it has been that way for a while back. Although i was strong today didn't let my son see me crying because i had to take him today with the recruiters and they keep him over night, but i  will see him tomorrow for the ceremony then hes off to Boot Camp i have been breaking down off and on but i will strong and i know us moms can get through this together. GOD BLESS our future Sailors!!!
Hello Rosalinda....What kind of ceremony? My son didn't tell me about any ceremony before bootcamp.
dawn...she's probably talking about the final swearing in.
Yes that's what it was. He said he was sworn in this morning here in Michigan. Now he's in Chicago. I'm proud and sad, the same as everyone else here. I know he'll be fine, he'll do great but I still can cry, it's my right. :)
