My son just passed MEPS last week and his report date is 5AUG14.  I know he thinks it's a LONG time but he is finishing high school and it will FLY by.

I'm super excited and proud of him but, in typical mom fashion, I'm nervous and scared for him too.

My son graduated High School on 23MAY and now it seems like the days are just FLYING by!  So much I need to say to him, so much to do...oh, and to top it off, we are moving at the end of this month.  The calendar just needs to slow down a little bit. :(

Hi all!  Been away for awhile. In the last 3 weeks, my son has graduated from high school, we had a big graduation party and I helped run our schools Grad Night.  Not to mention we took our last 'pre-planned' family vacation to Maui.  So many bitter sweet moments.

Are you all ready?  We are just a few short weeks away from their departure.

Mishka422.........how is the move going?

The move is going but it is just overwhelming!  My son is not being much of a help with it because he's trying to squeeze in every last minute he can with his friends before he leaves but this weekend is our move D-Day!  UGH! :)

I right there with you guys. My daughter reports Aug 5th but flies out the 6th. I have been very supportive of her and am super proud, but I am afraid I may be an emotional basket case when the day gets here.

Hi Janna,

My daughter reports the 5th and flies out the 6th as well. Each day that passes I get a little more emotional. Takes everything to not let her see my tears. Wishing you strength in the coming weeks!

Wishing you the best too.  Stay strong!

My daughter also leaves on August 5th to report on the 6th. She is my baby of 3, the other two are also military, but for some reason this one is different. I have been through Marine Corps boot camp and Air Force boot camp, and now Navy, I am hoping this goes as smooth as the other two.

Maybe all of our daughters will meet  Janna B and  Shel since they are all shipping the same day! :) Mine is leaving from MN.

That would be really cool if they could hookup.  Anna leaves out of Memphis, TN.

I think so too! I haven't had a lot of time to read about boot camp yet so I don't know how they are divided up on ships...do either of you know if it goes by rate or are all females together?

If you have Facebook go to US Navy Life. I found a video there that showed what it would be like when they got to RTC. It seems to comfort me when I learn more about the things that Anna will be going through.
