Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Spending our last night together watching the Cowboy game. Mary, my son has the same emotions, as do I. He's got his boxes packed for us to ship to him in Charleston in March. Doreen, that's our plan too. Can't wait. We drop him off at the recruiter's at 2:45 tomorrow, then will go see him sworn in on Tuesday (don't know the time yet).

We are doing the same watching the Cowboys. My daughter had her long beautiful hair cut off today, wow, what a reality check that was for both of us.

This is our last day. My son wants to go to a movie, so we are going to do that today. We live in the Chicago area so we will be able to see him Tuesday night at the hotel after checking in. Then he spends the day at O'Hare airport on Wednesday while the other recruits arrive from around the country. We should get the phone call from Great Lakes early Thursday morning. I will have to remember to bring my cellphone to my bedroom. I am dreading tomorrow. How will I be able to handle this while trying to work?

We will follow my daughter to Albuquerque tomorrow, have dinner with her tomorrow night. Wednesday we will watch her be sworn in and then say good bye at the airport. To be perfectly honest I am not sure I am going to get through this. I am beginning to believe this is more then either of us can handle.

Mary - you are not alone, either. He has a friend coming over in an hour to say goodbye along with his mom. Not sure if I will get through this without crying. I am trying to save it for the morning while I drive to work.
I know I will be better on Friday. I just have to get through the next few days. The easier part for me is that he will only be an hour away. You have it harder with being in another state far away. Have a good night!

My son was sworn in this morning, we were there. Lots of tired looking kids. He said he would call (he has his phone) to let me know what time he takes off.
