Son Leaving for Boot Camp Nov 1st...curious what happens on day of leave?

My son is leaving for boot camp on November 1st.  We are planning to go down the night before to spend time with him before he leaves.  Will the last time we see him be the night before he checks into MEPS or can we see him the day he leaves?  Any other people who have loved one's leaving for boot camp Nov 1st?  I have no idea what to expect as our son is the first in the family to enlist in the military.  This is a whole new experience.

My son left Aug. 8. We went to the same hotel and stayed. We spent the evening with him, although he stayed in his own room. He left really early for MEPS. We went to MEPS around nine. There were many families there. The kids have to spend a lot of time waiting, so it was nice we were able to wait with him. We watched him swear in. They even let you go into the room after it clears out to get pictures with your child in the swearing in room. We waited with him until time for him to leave to head to the airport. He had his cell phone with him, so we kept in touch while he waited for his flight. Once he arrived at the airport in Chicago, we had more than an hour with text conversations, while they got something to eat. If you are able to spend the day at MEPS, please do. I know you will be glad that you did.
Thank you so  much Aaron's mom.  We will definitely be there at MEPS, we will spend every moment with him we can before he leaves and after he gets out.  My son was suppose to leave Sept 1, but he his job and A school got changed so it pushed his ship date back.  Of course he was upset, but I will take the extra two months!:) How are you doing with your son leaving and do you know his graduation date yet?
