my son's regruiter called his wife and here is the information he gave us. SHIP 09 USS JOHN F. KENNEDY. We did not receive his form letter yet, so i guess to be on the safe side i should wait for the letter to get here before i send letters to him. Anyone with their son or daughter on the same ship?

call the recruiter and ask for the DIVISION #...you must have that to send letters and to find out the PIR date before you get the form letter
Here is the address for your ship from the RTC website
Ship 9
3415 Sailor Drive
Great Lakes, IL
60088-3515
Hi Jessica, thank you for the infos. that is the address he gave us. (CV-76) im not sure what that is.
The "Ships" at RTC are named after real ships in the Navy. CV-76 are the classification numbers (hull numbers) for the real USS John F. Kennedy. ;-) This number is not necessary for your Recruits address...nor is the Ship name as you can see by the "general" address.
Please do like Jessica said and call your Recruiter back and get more info. If you like ...I can help you decipher it...done a couple! But will need more info.
One thing...just do not post your recruits last name. It is not allowed on this site as per the N4M's Community Guidelines. First name ok, but not recommended.
FTLW
CV stands for Carrier Vessel. 76 is the number assigned to the USS John Kennedy. Current vessel (the real ones NOT the barracks at bootcamp) are listed in an official registry. Here is the link if you are interested.

Thanks
Thank you FTLW. I'm still waiting for the recruiter to call me back. I left him a message. Much appreciate if you can help me please. I will give you his infos.
SHIP 09/DIV 146...The recruiter doesn't know his PIR date quite yet.
Click on the survival guide, scroll down - you'll see a diagram of the barracks at boot camp. Find Ship 9 - that is where your son's barrack is. Don't forget to read everything in the guide. Welcome to N4Moms.
We have a Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll find everything you need to get started. Videos, PDF files of boot camp processing days, links to all the important groups plus tips on how to use this site. Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening. Be patient. Best part is it'll be here on your very own page as a reference. Click the MY PAGE tab on above menubar to access your page anytime - you should do it at least once a day to see if you have any postings on your comment wall (like this one). Good luck.

My son's recruiter gave me his address as well, and he's in Ship 09 Div 144, he didn't give me a name and I still haven't received the form letter yet. My son also left on 03/13/2012 out of GA and he's a Hospital Corpsman. Maybe they are in the same division and we can keep in touch.
