My son left yesterday for bootcamp. His call home call he said they were keeping them up all night. I have worried about him all day. I understand, I guess, their reasoning but I do not like it....AT ALL!!!

Thank you so much! I have rearranged my whole house to keep my mind occopied.

My daughter also arrived yesterday. I missed her call. I keep reassuring myself that everything will be ok. None of them are alone.

I am use to seeing him almost everyday. I, at least, talk to him daily. I miss being able to just check in with him to see how his day went.

My son left on December 3, 2013. Please let me know as soon as any of you hear anything. It's not knowing anything about how they're doing that is worrying me so much! I'll update you as soon as I hear something.

I will. You let me know also. I am going to request to be your friend.

Hi my son left on Tuesday for MEPS and then swore in Wed the 4th. I got his last phone call that evening when they arrived at GL. It was quick and some yells in the background about getting off the phone. Guess that was the official "I am here call". I had a great conversation with him hours before that when he arrived at O'Hare which was so nice because we talked for awhile.i would love to hear from other moms whose son/daughters arrived this week:)

My son left the same as you. It sounds like our children could be graduating together. Where are you from? I am from Oklahoma. I received a text from my son that says..... I got to turn my phone off. I love you. bye. I cried. No one said how hard this was going to be letting your child go.

My son left the same day and called around midnight Wednesday. I also got to talk to him from Chicago airport a few times and then received that text saying his phone had to go off now. That killed me and then only getting 38 seconds to talk when he called was even worse because not knowing when we will talk again is just killing me. Keep in touch with all of us and we will support each other.
Teaching them to walk is the easy part! It's letting them walk away that's the toughest thing of all! Thanks for sharing. I will keep you posted.
My son called on Saturday, December 14th (11 days after leaving for bootcamp). Hearing his voice was music to my ears! I did not think I would hear from him for at least another week. He is doing GREAT and excelling at the physical tests. He told his little brother that the worst part of being there is being away from family. So, I hosted a letter writing party at my house the next day (thanks to a post of another Navy mom on this site) and I've enlisted the rest of the family to send letters and plain Christmas cards as quickly as possible. I'm getting the majority of my information from this site! Thanks to all of the moms on here! The support I'm receiving here is truly incredible! Now, will the phone calls generally be on Saturdays and Sundays? I'm nervous that I might miss a call.
I think you can receive a call on any day but weekends have been the majority it seems. My son called Saturday also and he was so emotional. Said they are not real busy yet and has too much time to think about things. It broke my heart.
Thanks for the info! I'm sure they will all be so busy soon that your son will not have time to think about how much he misses you. Hang in there! My son is on Ship 14, Div 074. I wonder if our boys are together. Graduation is scheduled Jan. 24th. Will we see you there?
