Hello everyone!  I am completely new to this site --- the past few day have been tough.  I am staying positive though because what my son is doing is such a fantastic, honorable & positive thing!

he texted me last night that he had just landed in chicago at around 9pm --- i haven't received a phone call yet from the great lakes that he is technically there.  I'm sure this is normal --

anyone have there sons/daughters leave yesterday??  any feedback would be great ... i am also wondering when they get pictures done?  my husband and I threw a going away party for my son and i  would like to include his navy pic with the thank yous.

looking forward to hearing from all my fellow moms ;)

My son left Tuesday the 4th.  I received a call around 9:00 pm (rehearsed) that he had arrived at GL.  I am a newbie too, ut have been looking at this site for the last few months.  I know kind of what to expect at times. In regards to pictures.......it almost seems like (from the stuff I have been reading) that those are taken later and you get them around graduation time. I am from New York State.  Where are you from?

We threw a party too over the weekend.  He is my youngest and the house is sooooo quiet now.

Good Luck to you and your son.  Keep in touch.  I am also on the Navy for Moms facebook page.  Sometimes that is easier to navigate.   But there is lots of information here too.

thanks for the reply lynette -

i too have been been navigating this site for the past few months.  I am from New Jersey - hopefully I receive the call from GL soon.  My son was my oldest, my 1st born.  I am definitely going to check out the navy for moms fbook page.  this site has so many different directions i can go in.  thanks again for your feedback - i will keep in touch.  i wish you and your son the best of luck too!

hello !

thanks for replying :)  i am in New Jersey.  we have alot to be proud of :)  this too shall pass -

Sorry.

Promise, I won't do it again.

My son left on 9/5 too. I received the call from airport but nothing from GL yet. It's been tough here just keeping a positive attitude. Hoping for a call any day.:)

Hi! My son also left on 9/5. I got a call from him when he got to the airport cause they were waiting for the bus and then I got THE CALL saying it would be three weeks until I hear from him again. I'm very proud of him and his decision but I miss him so much. Where are you from? and what's you son's name? My son is SR Leonard Sturgis.

900 divisions are on Ship 2.  So you can go to http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp and get the address. His PIR will be 11/02/2012.  The PIR group for that date has not been formed yet.  Watch Boot Camp Mom's or go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group once it has been created.

Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation. Here is a site I found that explains about 900 Divisions, The Requirements for the Navy RTC 900 Division

There are 3 types of 900 divisions. There are the Band/Bluejacket Choir/Drill team, otherwise known as Triple Threat (the musicians, singers, and drill team), the Sticks (those who carry the state flags), and the Ship Staff/Honor Guard (the body snatchers, those who guard various things...). Three 900 divisions perform their duties at each PIR, the 900 division(s) from that TG and if needed one to three 900 divisions from the next one or two TG's. Each 900 Division performs in their own PIR and in the PIR for one or two TGs ahead of their own. They may also have performances in the community--that happens mainly for the Triple Threat though. I believe that Division 951 is Sticks/Flags.

Sticks/Flags does an incredible march perfectly timed and executed to the drum corps cadence. It is their job to present the flags for every state in the union. They are lined up by height, so the flow looks better, so your recruit will probably not get to carry their home state flag. They also honor those who have gone before by presenting the POW and MIA flags, as well as the US flag.

Watch the RTC’s fB page beginning 2 weeks before your SR’s PIR and you may catch a glimpse of your SR.

You are so welcome.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here

Join the group, PIR 11/02/2012 TG 51 (clickable link) to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.

that's good to hear! I am anxiously awaiting mine :) did your box come Fed Ex, UPS or USPS?

Fed Ex for me last Friday. So surprised it came so quickly.  Now if that darn form letter would arrive.
