Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Son on Medical Hold
Hello,
My son was supposed to graduate from boot camp on 6/5. However, 4 days before graduation, he called and told us that he got sick and failed the physical (run) test.He called again 6 days later and said that that he will re-do the physical and that was 3 weeks ago. Since we haven't heard anything since then, I called the recruiter and was told that he is on medical hold. Can someone please give me some information what happens when they are on medical hold? I am very concerned because I don't even know what's going on. This is his first time being away from us and we are so worried about his health and if he still has a chance of graduating.
I would greatly appreciate any information that you can share.

I am so sorry that you are not being kept up to date with a sick recruit. I would keep checking with the recruiter. Hope your son calls or writes soon letting you know what is happening.

He is probably in Ship 5. (used to be ship 17)
The Ship 5 group is not active, but you can get info on the waiver he needs to sign so you can talk to RTC about his case. Because he is an adult, the Navy must obey the HIPPA privacy laws, and cannot tell you anything without his permission.

Thanks. He finally called the other day and told me that they are sending him home due to medical reasons. He said that the nurse told him that he needed to rest because apparently he throws up every after test. I doubt that he is really sick. I think it was just him being nervous. He also said that his commander told him that he can come back in 6 months or so when he gets better that's why I guess he agreed to return home. Would you happen to know if the commander told him the truth? Can he really go back to training again after he was send home? I really wish ther is something that I could do for him because it was really his dream to join the Navy.
