Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SWO Moms

My son graduated OCS in March and his currently stationed in Norfolk, VA.  I wondered if there was a group for SWO Moms.  Thanks.

My LO did SWOS II last month the last of August, early September.  Had a little trouble with the Hurricane, although had a great time in Newport.

Sue - I heard that Newport had a bit of a time with the hurricane.  I am glad your LO enjoyed his time there.  It must be odd for them to return to Newport after wanting to leave it so badly not too long ago!

Yes they were without power for 1.5 days on the base I believe and all the surrounding areas.  We were so worried about our other child in NYC and here Newport saw much more of the brunt.  So happy your LO is back in the states and you will have more time to visit when in Newport!

@2inservice -- my LO will be back to Newport in late Oct/Nov for part 2 of SWO .  Was deployed as part of the same group- BOXARG as your LO. Go Gator Navy!

Happy Homecoming!  Have you seen your son yet or will SWO school be the family reunion?  I was a Tiger for the last leg of the return and my husband met us at the pier in California...it was wonderful.  We can't wait until SWOS II, we will be in Newport to visit a little more on the East Coast while we have the opportunity.

 @ 2 in the service  ---Glad the Tiger was fun -- no I haven't seen him yet. He will be in MI after SWO school for maybe a week - not sure of the exact plans. It will be nice because my daughter will be in from Western MI and my brother from NJ and my dad (WWII Navy air) from PA will be here to. I just have to get everyones schedule since I'll be working-maybe even the holiday- so we can at least have 1 meal all together.  It's just nice to be able to talk to them, not just by email.  He is looking forward to SWO II . His friend from MSU will be graduating from OCS a few days before school - so he will see him and see the festivites from a different viewpoint than last Sept!! Enjoy having your daughter state side again.

Hi

I just found this discussion group and I am thrilled there is one for SWO Moms!  I have a son and a son-in-law serving proudly in the Navy. 

My son is a Navy helo pilot who winged in March, finishes up his final training just before the holidays and then will head to Hawaii for his first duty station.  I spend a lot of time in the Naval Aviation discussion group.

However, I went looking for a SWO group as my son-in-law (SIL) is a SWO and my husband served 21 years as a SWO.   

My SIL and my daughter are stationed in Newport.  SIL just left for a 7 month deployment today as part of a maritime security squadron that is based in Newport.  He is Operations Officer.  The squadron is one of the elements of Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC).  His deployment is land based, going to a certain region of the world to make sure that the ports are secure for US Navy ships and US commercial vessels.  Not your typical SWO deployment.

So I look forward to following this discussion group as well.

Hi Navy wife and mom! Welcome to this little group! Congratulations on having two Navy sons. You must be very proud. My LO just finished a 7 month deployment of theatre security, support and humanitarian missions. It is a long time for everyone but the time, amazingly, goes by fairly quickly. Good wishes for both of your Navy guys and your family.

So was your LO on a ship during deployment?  My SIL had two sea tours as a division officer on two different ships.  Than a shore tour with another NECC group.  Now he is on a department head tour.

It's so different when your "kids" are the ones deploying.  As a Navy wife I handled my share of deployments so I feel for my daughter.  This is the longest deployment she has had as a Navy wife.  She has only been married for 3 years, so she missed his early deployments.

I just want to hop a plane and go visit her but she told me she was fine and would see me at Thanksgiving.  I think once the holidays are over and the grey of winter sets in she will want company.

Yes, my LO was a DIVO on an LHD. We are all very happy to be state side for a while. You daughter may feel okay now but I bet a visit a little further in to the deployment will be VERY welcome.

Hi NAVY wife and Mom, !  Greetings!! I have 4 serving and soon to have 5 serving in September.. ! I have one USMC officer, 2 SWOs, and my husband is BGO Officer for Annapolis( Naval recruiter), and  My youngest has just applied for NROTC Tufts, Harvard UNIV and  The College of The Holy Cross;  and a few other  universities...  I do  US troop support for care pkgs,  and for military hospitals in  Afghanistan support. ,. I also want to help with US Marine Toys for Tots, and Operation Christmas cards for the troops. In addition, my Marine is going to Pensacola for flight training in February. My SWO/LT   is Commander Pacific Northwest, my Daughter in Law/ Ensign is an Info officer for the USS Ford. Whew.. I do hope I covered them all!!  I would like to keep in touch with you, and get updates if you want..!! Susan Tagan~ US Marine/ Navy Mom
