For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

The Wait Begins...
My mother and I just returned from watching my son/her grandson swear in at MEPS. We'e been up since before 5 am b/c who really sleeps while anticipating this big day?
Im please to say that my son is READY to go and get started. He looked a bit tired but did not fall apart at any point while at MEPS. Not even when my mom asked if he wanted to go home with us.
I held the tears back which shocked me! I felt an odd sense of calm on the drive home ( about an hour and a half from our MEPS branch) but lost it when I read my son's last post on social media. He truly amazes me. MY husband and I have done our job for now. Our young man is ready to make his way in this crazy world. I am so proud of him for choosing to serve our country and he is 100% Navy.
We've had a super busy 7 months with Senior year activities, Prom, Graduation , two parties, sibling birthday, two holidays so now I can BREATHE for a second.
I can't wait to meet more parents of SR's and read all of the amazing stories, good and not so good.
Sorry for the rambling..not sure what to do now so I should probably start writing letters!

Yep, I cry at everything also! I promise, like I said, it does get better and yes that phone call made all the difference in the world!!! Again, hope all goes well for you and your son, I'm sure he will do great!! Enjoy your day!!

My son just shipped out today, and is probably an hour or so from Great Lakes by now. Thanks to technology, he's called me twice on the ride up. They are in a 15 passenger van, so no phone charger, so he's trying to save battery for the short call I'll get tonight. I've only cried a little today, not at MEPS, not on the way home, cried when his friend came by who left something here yesterday. But I bawled like a baby yesterday when I took him to the Recruitment Office and found out I had to leave him there. Then off and on all last night! I live 20 minutes of MEPS in Downtown St. Louis, and 4hrs from Great Lakes. My son will be in GL for 2yrs for school, so when he gets weekend liberty later in C school, I'll be able to go pick him up or he can rent a car and drive home.

Great to see another Missouri mom on here! My son left yesterday for Great Lakes, too! I actually envy you...my son wouldn't let me take him to the recruiting station. His brother said because I would make it too emotional. (I'm sure that is true!) His buddies went there instead. His girlfriend got the scripted call. (I was up until 2:00am waiting on it!) I will get the 'kid in the box.' I miss him already! Funny thing is that I am not a crier by nature...this experience has just been intense. Love my boys!
