Our “Holiday Sailors” and More!
I have the HONOR of anouncing...........Our Holiday GROUP

During the Holiday Season this year we have received a “special warm request” from a group of Seabees-YES, I said Seabees, in Afghanistan! The request came from the Battalion Chaplain of NMCB 74. The Chaplain says that they have Seabees in several locations around Afghanistan. He is hoping to do two things this Christmas-geez..Only 2, we can do MORE!

1) Have a smore roast by a campfire-singing Christmas carols and sharing Christmas stories of HOME.

2) He would like to have stockings to hand to his troops.
Moms, we want to send all the “warmth” and “Love” of Christmas to all 250 SEABEES

Now moms, are your hearts melting YET? Well, let’s get busy!
However, before you dash out the door, hear this!
We have had “some” VERY busy elf’s here!
Knit for the Navy Group has been busy knitting away at scarves
Heads at Ease has been busy sewing away at stockings.
A HUGE Thank You to "Lyn Love" who coordinated all our “crafty” Navy Moms!

We are looking for the "Warmth and L♥ve" that comes from “HOME” at Christmas time!
So think WARM, IT BRRRRRRRRRRR freezing in Afghanistan.
So think Stockings, we have to stuff all those stockings!
Think WARM, lets keep our Sailors warm and toasty!

I would also like to give a shout out to “UNO’s Grille” in Kissimmee Florida-UNO’s is accepting donations for Molly’s Adopt a Sailor and in return they are giving out a coupon for a FREE appetizer! Boy, where does it end! We have such an outpouring of support from all over! It’s NOT over yet!
Let’s hear it for our Central Illinois’ Moms who on their own is taking on another special group of 60 in Iraq this holiday season! The love never ENDS!!!!!

As Always, Please use our Molly’s Adopt a Sailor Labels on all items! Mailing Dates on November 27-December 5th, so let's start the HOLIDAY PARTY

I have one last think I would like to add!
I am a mom of a sailor aboard USS Rodney M. Davis, which was adopted last holiday season by Molly’s Adopt a Sailor. I could NEVER begin to explain how I felt knowing that my son’s ship was receiving all the love that Molly’s Moms have and MORE. The day the BAGS of mail arrived aboard the Davis my son just so happen to be there with our “contact” CMC Smith! Well let’s just say, Cannot repeat what came out of the CMC’s mouth! Shock and Awe, should explain it! My son called me a few hours later letting me know the mail was dropped and dropped big. My son received over 15 cards that Christmas and he read them repeatedly! He said “Mom it gets pretty lonely on this small” ship; So, I am “Paying it forward” Molly’s Moms Style!

PS-thanks Molly, it was about time you let me do this! L♥VE YOU SISTA!!!!
Please USE these LABELS so that CHAPPY knows they are from US...♥

Barabara, you name the time and place and I will be there. Maybe arrange it in the Washington group. This time I will be there ladies, I promise.
We could print the label onto transfer paper and iron on the label to the stockings! (If the fabric the stockings are made of won't melt.)
I will send s'more fixings, socks (my son always needed socks) and a dvd of Charlie Brown's Christmas and A Christmas Carol. Does anyone know if homebaked cookies arrive edible? I would like to send Christmas cookies.
Thanks, that's a neat idea. Knew you could do that with brown sugar, but didn't think about cookies packed to ship. WOW!!
I just got back shooping and bought 10 pairs of black socks for this group also candy was half priced so picked up some bags. Hand warmers are a neat thing for this group. I have some work gloves I will also send. How long are they going to be there. Going to keep my eye out for hot chocolate buy 1 get 1 and stock up.
We have the stockings already ---correct Lyn ?

Hey I was just approached with an idea --- a high school girl down the steet needs to have some volunteering time (hmmmm) and we happen to be someone they volunteer and get credit to. ANYWAY ~
Her mom (ex Navy nurse) suggested that they set up outside a Fred Myer (kind of a wallmart type store here) On Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and ask for socks to be donated to the troops, have a big box that people can buy socks while in shopping and drop them off in the box when come out . (this store happens to have great sock sales on black friday)
SOOO tomorrow I am going to approach Fred Myer managers and ask if we can do that.
I need to have a letter head and ask professionally--- BUT who knows that really could be a great idea if it works ? (fingers crossed ladies)

Also how do you suggest that we do the smores ---? Chocolate = melt doesnt it ?
I did have someone say they sent a jar of marshmellow cream one time ---- maybe chocolate fudge ice cream topping would travel just as well also ? Or should we just do it the old fashion way
As for the chocolate...isn't it cold there??? so I don't think it would melt???
Hey,does this mean I can send my favorite thing in the whole wide world?? CHOCOLATE!!!!!?????? (Yah Yah Yah, I'll include the other stuff needed for s'mores)
I have an idea. Why not in each card include some of your favorite Christmas memories? Just this morning I was telling my husband about some of mine. For example, my mom believed Christmas morning should be a big surprise for small children. So when we went to bed on Christmas eve there wasn't even a Christmas tree or any decorations. We did hang out our stockings. Well I must have been not quite four and we lived in a beach house on the beach in Jacksonville, FL. It was heated by a fireplace. It was war time and housing was scarce. Dad was deployed somewhere. Now, my younger brother and I had been sent off to bed but my older brother and sister were up helping Mom play Santa when Dad walked in. As you can imagine that created a lot of excitement awakening me. I remember wandering out and everyone, except Dad, trying to get me back to bed without my seeing anything. I didn't but I do remember the surprise in the morning. Not only had Santa arrived, there was a Christmas tree up and Dad was home. He left shortly after Christmas, before decorations were taken down. When Mom took the tree down, there was a problem of what to do with it. A good friend of hers, June, was visiting and she suggested burning it in the fireplace. That might have been a good idea except June decided to throw the whole tree into the fireplace ... it was a big fireplace. Do you know what happens when you throw a dry pine tree into a fireplace? It explodes! Remember that but not how we got it out.

I bet I could come up with ten Christmas stories. Like the time I got a sled for Christmas, Christmas caroling, sneaking to the tenant house on our farm with a BIG box of goodies for the children ... learned that it IS more fun to give than to receive. How many can you come up with?
This is a great group for the holidays Diane!!
You ladies have the most wonderful ideas. Oh this will be great fun!!!
I bought fleece fabric for scarves.....I thought I would wrap them all Christmasy fancy so they can open presents.
I can't wait to get started shopping for our seabees.

jingle bells...jingle bells...jingle all the way......
Diane - Colorado Moms are ready to go. One of our moms with a friend at work has already purchased 100 Christmas Socks to fill. Starbucks has donated 2 HUGE boxes of individual instant coffees, as well as several pounds of coffee. Another mom had her mom and dad donate lots of Avon products, tooth products etc. We have lots of students and Sunday school classes already on the card making detail. Oh and I forgot, our packing party is Saturday Nov 7. We are excited to be a part of this again and will send a picture of the socks and the boxes Saturday night.

As a side note - getting to know you as we gathered and packed for the RMD was a Huge Blessing Diane and Miss Molly couldn't have asked a more enthusastic Sailor Mommie to head this outreach. Thanks for getting us started.....MMMMMWWWWWAAAAHHHHH to all our Sailors families and friends who are about to brighten 250 lives in amazing ways. One of many Colorado Moms
Love ya too CHRIS!
