Who else has a SR leaving for GL this week?

My son is at the hotel right now. We will go see him take his Oath in the morning and spend a bit more time with him before he leaves.

Sworn in and on his way!!

I texted his recruiter this morning, and he said he was good to go...so we went. It was a little hectic, and very much on their time. Afterward, we spent a few minutes on pictures and hugs...his poor girlfriend is falling apart...and I wasn't much better I'm sure.

We went on to lunch, me, the gf and my hubby...and after that home. She seems a bit better, and I'm only teary a bit for now.

I'm just relieved it all worked out...there were so many moments between his signing up and today that we were in limbo due to circumstances out of our control. Just blessed that he's in and making his way to GL now.

I'll keep everyone else in my prayers, since I know all of yours have made things happen here!!
Thanks to all...

Will update when I get the call.

Glad to hear that it went well.

My son is on the plane to Chicago. We spent the morning with him at MEPS then said our good byes at the airport. I am sad to see him go but only cried a little in front of him. I am so proud of his choice to join the Navy! Does it make me like "crazy mom" that I have only been home an hour & I want to start writing to him already?? LOL! Now we just wait for him to text letting us know he made it there alright.

We did this yesterday.....   my son shipped as a lone sailor and his gf, sister and I were allowed guest passes so we could wait with him for his flight....  it was a very hard good-bye, he is my last child, both of his sisters are in college, but at least I have one home for the summer and then I will be an empty nest :(   I spent as much time as possible with him prior.  It is hard not knowing how they are doing but I know that there is a reason for how boot camp works.  The phone call was very mechanical but it was his voice anyway.  It is a bit sad today...  last night I visited a friend with a sick kid in the hospital, just to keep my mind off mine...... It does help knowing you all are going through the same thing.... My son is Spec Ops AIRR it appears I need to come up with a little more clever username

Just got a text from my SR....arrived in Chicago...will call when he gets to RTC.  A little relieved, but worried now I won't hear the phone...so I'm afraid to go to bed!

I'm sure you have found out by now that you heard the phone when he called. I was the Very same way Monday night/Tuesday morning.

When Cookie posted that she had gotten her  Call, I just knew I would get mine within a few minutes. I was nearly 3 hours later before I heard my son's voice. I had even accepted that he was not going to call as a means of making the transition easier (that is the way he thinks at times).

((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))

We are all family now....we are apart of the military family and specifically the Navy Family.

Got my call at 2:51 a.m....he sounded tired, nervous and rushed, but relieved I think. "Hey, I'm here. You'll get a box in a week or so, followed by a letter with more information. I love you." All I could say was that I loved him too, and to stay strong...he said he would, then Goodbye.

I went to bed after that, but didn't get much sleep...knew he was in for a long few days and hoping that it wouldn't be too much for him...just hope he can keep his mouth shut and his head up!!LOL

Thanks to all here for the support, and yes, they're there for each other...I'm glad I found you guys!

Happy 4th...

L.

Oh, and my SR's name is Charlie! Mine is Laurel...nice to meet you all!

A Parent’s Prayer For a Navy Recruit
Father, in the coming days, I will need you, but my recruit will need You more!
Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance.
Let his reflexes be quick and his hands steady.
Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp.
Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit stronger.

God, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot!
Father, I love this recruit of mine! Take from ME; what he needs and give me
what he does not.

I will pace the nights, if it means he gets some sleep.
I will deal with fatigue, if it means he will have energy.
I will carry his fear, if it means it gives him courage.
I will take his pain, if it means he is healthy and whole.
I will take his anger, if it means he is at peace.
Take my love and pride and let him feel it!
Let him know that I am with him every step of the way!
Please, take from me what You can; I give it willingly and with love.
It is all I have besides my prayers.
Above all, please help my recruit to achieve his goal of becoming....
A United States Sailor!

This I ask on bended knee, that which I cannot do without YOU!

I borrowed this from Karebare (I think that is how she spells it). I will be printing this off and keeping it with me until I get the "I'm a Sailor" call.

My hubby arrived last night in GL around 8pm and I got his call around 1030ish.. He sounded excited but tired. sounds like the same call pretty much as everyone else lol " im here, im safe, you will get my box of my stuff in a week or so and all the other information thereafter I will give you a call in a few weeks I love you, please be careful and safe (probably because Im preggo) and take care of Violet for me ( our daughter)." i had time to say "i love you, be careful" and then goodbye... It was bittersweet. I know how excited he is and its really not THAT long apart..we have done it before when he did construction. But like most people, I think, I just want to be able to tell him for the millionth time I love him and give him an extra hug :(

Im glad we all have each other and idk about your kiddos/hubbys but I know mine will watch over yours. Hes very kind and supportive of others around him.

I need to give credit to Navy Kare Bear for this prayer.

I love this

You are more than welcome.

Yes, our faith, family, and friends will get us through every day.
